“Celebrating Good Food, Good Service and the 100th Year of Flight!”
The Airplane Restaurant centerpiece is a fully intact Boeing KC-97 tanker. Built in 1953, this magnificent airplane refueled aircraft throughout the world. Then, in May 2002, it began its second mission~ to be the preeminent aviation restaurant in the United States. Forty-two passengers can actually eat in the plane of the 275-seat restaurant. Rich in aviation history, displaying 100's of pictures, memorabilia and rare artifacts, Solo's offers much more than great food, it offers a flight through aviation history. Treat yourself to first class and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Flight and fly onto Solo's!
You might expect that a restaurant with this kind of neat "gimmick" would be overpriced andserve merely average food. You'd be wrong. We have visited this restaurant 3 times in the past year or so on visits to Colorado Springs and have yet to be disappointed. The family that owns the place is friendly and helpful and the menu has something for everyone at reasonable prices and prepared to your satisfaction. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop in. Once you do, like me, you'll probably be back.
We had fun at this restaurant and the staff was chatty plus informative if you like airplanes or have a pilot in the family. We thought the food and prices were okay. It's an average sit down service establishment. The restrooms have sound effects of takeoffs and landings which was good for one more smile! We sat in the cockpit and took photos, so it was definitely a tourist friendly place. I overheard someone say that the quality of the food was much better than the last time he had bee. The
My boys, 4&5, got a kick out of this place. We went on a weekday and it was not too busy, so they were able to spend plenty of time pretending to be "airplane drivers". I didn't love what I ordered, but that may have been my fault in poor ordering. Overall the food quality was acceptable for the enjoyment that the boys had and the novelty of dining in an airplane!
My family lives near The Airplane, and it's one of our favorite places to take visitors from out of town. The food is consistently good American fare, and the staff and management/owners are present and attentive. Everyone loves eating on the plane, too; it's a fun experience which even our adult guests thoroughly enjoy.
Pretty neat place. Food wasn't too bad either. I'd go again!
The food was terrible! Inside plane was nasty, windows were dirty, slow service. The waiter who seated is needed a clean ironed shirt @ so did the waitress. Food over priced ! Sorry it didn't impresse.
Great fun! went in november no waits Great time to go! Server was soo sweet!
.... Been there. Sorry I hit send accidentally while trying to correct my auto Spell feature! I recommend this as it's only a couple miles out if the way. We went after spending sunset at Garden of the Goda, another must see in the area!
Oops, hit the wrong button with my previous review. As I was saying, while the experience of eating in a large airplane and sitting in the cockpit is neat, the reason for being there is food. The food is overpriced and not very good. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Neat gimmick. You can actually eat in the plane and sit in the cockpit. Kids love it. We have been here numerous times and love the atmosphere. Unfortunately, many things that we have tried on the menu were not up to par. A trip from Chef Gordan Ramsey could make this place fantastic.
