The Roosevelt National Forest began in May 22, 1902 as part of the Medicine Bow Forest Reserve. It was named to honor President Theodore Roosevelt in 1932. The Forest encompasses more than 800,000 acres in north-central Colorado. Bordering the Arapaho National Forest and the State Forest State Park , you can do most anything from Boating, Hiking, Fishing in the summer to Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling, Snowshoeing in the winter months.
