“gorgeous natural oasis surrounded by towering peaks”

At Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort, overnight resort guests and visitors seeking a one-day hot springs experience are welcomed to a relaxing and invigorating experience. The Historic Bath House at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort is open daily to the public. This building was built in the mid 1800’s just after the Civil War. Here you will find showers and lockers. Enjoy the Soaking Pool, Exercise Pool and the hot springs in Chalk Creek where you can create your own private hot springs and control your temperature. Open late at night the hot springs are great to sit and gaze at the stars at night. Right across from the main lodge are the Upper Pools. Connected by a lazy river, these pools are surrounded by a grassy plateau and offer incredible views of the mountains above. With plenty of space and an equal amount of lounge chairs the upper pool provides accommodations for any crowd. Relax in the smaller hot pools and enjoy the Colorado outdoors. Release your inner child and ride the 400’ hot water slide. Forget the long lines at water parks. Bring out your inner child and share in your family’s delight riding this 400-foot long water slide. Mats for the water slide are provided. A short walk to the top of the water slide and you are ready to go. Jump on your mat and ride the six giant turns emptying into the cooler 75-degree pool on our upper deck. A must do at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort are the hot springs pools located right in midst of the cool rushing waters of Chalk Creek. Each pool is fed by its own natural geothermal hot spring that is bubbling up into the actual creek bed and into majestic circles of stones that create natural pools of warmth and rejuvenation. Open to all guests, each pool is approximately one foot in depth with a comfortable sandy bottom and sparkling appeal. Simply remove a few stones to allow cooler water to rush in and cool your soul. Each pool offers different temperature ranges and a unique view of the surrounding mountains above. Bring the whole family an experience all of the twenty hot spring pools for yourself. The Mount Princeton Hot Springs were first frequented by Native Americans. In 1860, a way station, hotel, and freight depot were built near the site of the present hotel to serve freighters traveling over Tincup Pass, bound for the mines of Ashcroft and Aspen; and over the Altman Pass toward Gunnison Country. A three-story hotel was built in 1879 by a group of mining men made wealthy with profits from the fantastically productive Mary Murphy Mine. It took four years to build and never saw a paying customer. From 1944 to 1960, the George C. Roche, Jr. family utilized the hot spring water and kept the bathhouse, pool, and pit baths open to the public. In June 1960, Dennis Osborn of Houston, Texas built a new pool, a 20-room motel and recreational building on the site. In 1965, a lower lodge and dining room were created of native rock and batten board lumber on the old foundation of the Mount Princeton Hot Springs Hotel.
