Iconic Attraction

Our Take

The Museum is much more interesting than the Hall of Fame. You can see instruments played by legends, handwritten lyrics, and other artifacts like Johnny Cash's tour bus, Michael Jackson's white rhinestone glove, and (my personal favorite) Jim Morrison's Boy Scout uniform. You don't need to be a graduate of the School of Rock to appreciate a visit here, there's plenty for casual rock listeners to appreciate. And, it's cool that they take a broad definition of rock, paying tribute to the sounds that influenced it as well as modern-day music.

“Celebrating the legends of rock and roll”

With interactive exhibits, priceless memorabilia, and live performances, this museum is a must-visit for music lovers of all ages. Explore the roots of rock and roll, learn about your favorite artists, and even try your hand at playing an instrument. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a true pilgrimage for anyone who has ever felt the power of music.

You have to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on any trip to Cleveland. The design and architecture itself is impressive. See artifacts like Elvis's car & the mortgage book to Graceland to a piece of Otis Redding's airplane. The only bummer is you can't take pictures in the museum portion. Well worth the price of admission. The video presentation in the hall of fame section is long, but your foot will tap the whole way through.

The two items here I'm sure to seek out every time: Joey Ramone's leather jacket and Paul Simonon's broken bass from the cover of London Calling. If you ever wanted to feel like you're in the presence of something greater than you, spend a few hours here.

My absolute favorite artifact here is Jim Morrison's Boy Scouts shirt. Apparently, he was a model student and was super well-behaved as child. My how things can change...

If you're in Cleveland, you have to stop at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! It is filled with every bit of music history you could possibly want to see, and then some. The ticket prices are a little on the high side, but worth every penny. You could easily spend an entire day here. And according to "1001 Places to See Before You Die", it is a must! (In fact, it is the only place listed in the book for all of Ohio!)

Definitely an interesting museum for the music fan, with plenty of memorabilia and information for the casual fan. Several films and videos fill you in on the history of rock as well as the museum itself. For people who already know a lot about music history of for people with more niche tastes, the museum will seem a little cursory.

Cleveland does indeed ROCK! This really is a museum containing collections from famous rock and roll artists from every age. My personal favorite exhibits are the lyrics section where they have the scribbled lyrics on the backs of napkins or standard notebook paper to some classic songs, and the Beatles wing, which is the best part. If your kids are lukewarm to rock and roll, they may get bored. The museum has a lot of interactive exhibits to keep youngsters happy, but for some teenagers, the novelty wears off quick.

Loads of interesting artifacts. We saw a special exhibit of photography of R&R stars. I'm not very knowledgeable about rock & roll, but especially enjoyed the exhibits that identified the major influences on specific groups and artists -- with audio of examples. Architecture and the harbour are also fascinating.

Worth a visit! We only had 2 hours so we had to rush through it, but there are multiple theaters where you can sit and watch video, but we didn't have time :( interactive exhibits as well!

If you are visiting Cleveland, this is ABSOLUTELY a must-see. Like Austin Coop says, the architecture is impressive, and there will be at least one exhibit that takes you down memory lane. If you are ever back in Cleveland, go again! There will be details you missed that will make the return trip worth it.

As a Cleveland native, I'm pretty glad the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is here. It's a pretty fun visit if you're a music enthusiast (there's a crazy amount of guitars).
