“Preserving the Past for the Future”
Heartland Museum was established to tell the story of agriculture in North Central Iowa, to preserve some local collections that might otherwise disappear, and to celebrate small towns that make rural Iowa a treasure. In the Ag Hall, the visitor will experience a century of agricultural machinery along with an extensive collection of horse drawn equipment and over 2,000 collectable Scale Models. As the visitor strolls along the streets of yesterday, his experiences will include stores from the 30's, 50's ,and the Victorian era. Also one can see over 500 hats in the Hat Parlor dedicated to Iowa's Hat Lady, Alvina Sellers; the Artist Teddy Bear Exhibit with Artist Bears from across the nation and around the world as well as the story of the Teddy Bear Reunion; and take a look at the past in the Historical Library.
