“Great pies in a good place.”
We are a family business – brother, brother-in-law, and assorted relatives – making pies according to season, our childhood memories, and sometimes whim, using ingredients from local farmers and producers whenever we can. Our chef, Ian Sobeck, a recent transplant from Seattle where he ran the kitchen at Sutra, has definite ideas about what makes a good pie. As do other members of the family. We’ve opened our doors on DeSales Corner in East Walnut Hills, serving sweet and savory pies, as well as small bites. You’ll also find a robust, well-paired wine and beer menu. And on Sundays, we offer a brunch menu featuring special menu items, mimosas, and house-made Bloody Marys.
Nice people, and a quiet little garden space, but pretty average pies. My pie was mostly potatoes, and the crust was dry, so it was basically starch pie. It did come with sauces but neither could do much to cut through all that starch. We also had a chicken pot pie, which was alright (but not much flavour and under seasoned), but not great when you consider the price and all this place does is make pies. It should have been the greatest chicken pot pie we had ever tasted.
It's pie... what more can you say? It's on the pricey side, but the atmosphere is cozy and the piece of pie I got was pretty good.
