“Over-the-Rhine sushi bar & gastro pub”
Kaze is a Japanese GastroPub and sushi bar that combines three venues into one: a contemporary dining room, a hip bar/lounge, and a year-round, landscaped beer garden. Jon Zipperstein and Hideki Harada co-own and operate the restaurant. Zipperstein is already a successful restaurateur in the city, with Embers in Kenwood. Harada is an experienced chef, who has worked at Embers and Boca (among others). In 2009, he left the states for Japan, where he spent a few years honing his craft. After Harada moved back to Cincinnati in September 2011, he reconnected with Zipperstein. Seeing the revitalization of Over the Rhine, both gentlemen wanted to claim their seat at the OTR table and thought there would be no better way than combining their talents to create a unique new restaurant in the Gateway Quarter. Kaze is eager to become a local favorite for the neighbors as well as the destination for adventurous foodies. We look forward to serving you soon. Arigatou gozaimasu!
The food is pretty expensive and portion sizes are on the small side, but the food is really delicious. They also have some really good sakes that you don't find elsewhere and the outdoor patio is one of the biggest in the neighborhood so it's great when the weather is nice.
I lud me some Kaze. Had the Kobe sliders and I didn't regret it.
I do quite like coming here to sit out in the garden for late afternoon drinks. There aren't many outdoor bars in OT sadly. They do have a few little gems on the menu too, which I find best for light, snacky stuff overall.
I don't really get this place, honestly. The food is overly-expensive asian-fusion that's just alright. I guess if you're looking for a place to drink some sake and sing karaoke, the Kaze is the place do it... but only because theres no other option.
I'm not a huge fan. I want to be. I love the space and the location, but it's a bit too much on the trendster, scenester, yuppie side for me. The food is alright, not much of a selection, but you won't feel too full after eating. I think it's also too pricey for what you get.
Kazeoke (Karaoke Fantastic) is one of the best times you'll have on a Wednesday night! Good food, drinks, and Godzilla or some random anime cartoon on the flat screens...
Wednesday night Karaoake Fantastic is lots-o-fun. They make a nice Manhattan at the bar, as well.
Nice sushi bar in the heart of OTR, bit on the pricey side but definitely a good date spot!
Pricey. The food here costs a fortune for how big the portion sizes are. They make up for it with their atmosphere and the freshness of their ingredients though. One of those places that would be fun for a fancy date, but for a larger party, I wouldn't recommend it (unless someone else is footing the bill!).
