“"Experience Our Good Nature"”
The Brass Heart Inn rests on 23 acres of rolling meadows at the base of Mt. Chocorua. The town's name is from the mountain which carries its own legend. Nathaniel Hayford began building on this land in 1787. The Hayford family began inviting summer guests to "Hayford House" in the early 1890's. After sitting idle for several years, in 1965, the Stafford's rescued the inn and spent the next 35 years offering guests peaceful lodging and fine dining at "Stafford's In The Field". Don and Joanna Harte purchased the inn in 2001 and continue the tradition of fine dining and lodging as the third family to welcome guests into the inn. Many of the inn's past guests include past U.S. presidents and Hollywood stars. You may enjoy taking some time to review the inn's Guest Registers to see whose names you'll recognize. The inn's name is derived from a combination of the innkeeper's surname and their collection of horse brass in the heart motif. Their collection can be found in the inn's Boar's Head Pub.
