Canyon Del Muerto

You can't access Canyon del Muerto on your own. However, you can book a tour with a native guide which will take you - on a humpy, bumpy road - so people with a bad back should talk to the organizers about that beforehand - to Antelope House and Mummy and Massacre Cave ruins, giving out a plethora of historical information about the canyon and its inhabitants.

As an alternative you can drive to three viewpoints on the rim – North Rim drive – to look down into the canyon and see the ruins. Both being down in the canyon is a profound experience.
