“A Chicagoland Tradition”
Palermo’s of 63rd Street has been serving the Chicagoland area for over 45 years. Palermo’s of 63rd Street was opened in 1961 by Antonino and Carmela (Tirrito) Caldarone and their children Benedetto (Ben), Giuseppe (Joe), Ignazio (Frank), and Maria (Lia) shortly after immigrating from Italy. The 63rd Street location began as a small, mainly take-out restaurants located at 63rd Street and Maplewood. The pizza and spaghetti sauces were and are a treasured recipe of the Tirrito family, which boasts among its ancestors an acclaimed 18th century painter-poet, Fr. Fedele Tirrito-Palermo. Palermo’s authentic Italian food , made with quality ingredients and unique sauces, soon attracted vast attention and praise for their sweet, distinctive qualities. In 1975, the Caldarone family expanded, purchasing the property at 3751 West 63rd Street (63rd & Hamlin), where they remain today. There, the Caldarone family built the present pizzeria (seating up to 85 people), and banquet room (seating up to 150). Both the banquet rooms were recently remodeled in 2001. The 63rd Street location is frequented by regular customers who have visited regularly for decades, as well as new customers discovering the delicious, authentic cuisine. In addition to dining-in and planning banquets at Palermo’s, customers also enjoy the convenience of delivery, office lunch catering, and special event catering.
