Such a great place! It's like being on the ocean but without the salty water and sharks. We stopped just long enough to walk along the beach and eat lunch. I'd definitely recommend it!

My family loved this trip to the Indiana Dunes! What a beautiful place! And as a mother of children ages ranging from 19 to 3 its hard to find something the whole family can enjoy. The campground was nice and the facilities were kept clean. My oldest son, who is our seasoned camper, said he had never been to a campground with such nice facilities. We loved it so much we have decided to make this an annual summer trip!

The sites are Electric only, but totally worth it! They have ample water filling stations and the sites have a good amount of space between them. The dumping station was easy to use and clean. We wish we had spent longer than one night, but we will definitely stay here again. The trails to the Indiana Dunes State Park were close by and easy to access. We also drove to Devils Slide to watch an amazing sunset over Lake Michigan!

This camp site was beautiful! Stayed here one evening on a cross country road trip. The sites are pet friendly, as well as the beaches. The sand dunes are a beautiful trail walk behind the camp site and a beautiful place on a summer day. The facilities at the camp are very new and the staff was extremely friendly. Mostly RV's and not very many tents, but we had a blast in our tents and making an evening fire.

If you're traveling through the Chicago area this park is a nice option to spend a night or two. This was an interesting park because of it's location. It is situated in the middle of industrial northern Indiana; there appears to be a steel mill to the west and a power plant to the east. Both facilities are visible from the beach. Never the less the dunes along the lakeshore make a nice little hike. While not very scenic itself, the campground is clean and surprisingly quiet.

Some of the sites are farther apart than others. Overall, its kept pretty clean, but can get quite busy during the weekend. When I was there in May, it got pretty busy during the weekend but I am usually out doing things so it doesn't bother me as much. There is some great hiking from the campground or my favorite with Q is Cowles Bog Trail accessed from Mineral Springs Road nearby. This loop trail goes to the beach and loops back around to the parking area. If you do bring your dog/cat, beware in the late Spring/early Summer months, there may be a lot of ticks. May would have been when they were just hatching, there may be less of them in the later summer months. I still love this place if even for the dune hiking.

Chicago is a doable day trip and the South Shore train line station is not far away. This would take you straight into the loop area.

The dunes are simply amazing, and how fun to walk the shores of Lake Michigan with a view of Chicago on a clear day.

The sites in the campground themselves are mostly well spaced, but there is little visual privacy between them. We enjoy the sites that back up to the dunes the best. Some much more level than others.

Great hiking access right from the campground, some nice easy flat trails and some very challenging trails that take you over and through the dunes.

Be aware that the state of Indiana had a price increase in mid-May. This campground now costs $23/night, and the one-time per stay entrance fee is $12 for out of state folks (the website is very confusing as it says the fee is per day per vehicle - not true for campers.)

Not a lot to do in the area, campground itself is good, nice bathrooms, spacious sites. The views on the beach are yucky, if you look west you see a refinery, if you look east its a nuclear power plant. Nearest town has a casino and a outlet mall, but the town is run down and sort of sad.

I loved that our site felt out a little more tucked away than the others, though the downside was that we had a walking path right behind us and quite often people didn't stick to the path and would walk through our site.

We didn't do any of the dune hikes, but did enjoy a walk through the swamp and took twice daily strolls through the campground, down the boardwalk to the beach.

The showers were decent. There were individual stalls with doors, a bench and a separator wall instead of a shower curtain (bonus). Water pressure was good, and the water temperature was somewhere between very warm and almost hot.

Nice, popular campground. Paved level sites with good spacing. Bathrooms were well maintained but had a bunch of birds nesting above the entrance so watch your step. Easy access to the beach and other trails from the campground.

Dumpstation available on the way out.
