Perhaps it stood on the sandy shores of Wrightsville Beach or Kings Street in Boone, or just maybe Pike's Rex all Drug Store on Church Street in Concord. It doesn't matter where we hail from, nearly all of us have memories of some wonderful soda shop. The marble counters, the gleaming soda fountain, craftsman made stools and booths, stainless steel and tile walls drew you in; the freshly prepared salads, sandwiches, burgers, and homestyle cooking accompanied with our milkshakes, sundaes and banana splits made you want to stay all day. It was run by family and that family made you feel like you belonged there.
