“Take in Charlotte's local flavor”
I was born in Ohio and moved to North Carolina when I was 11 years old. Came to Charlotte in 1991 to attend college and never left this great city. Boy has it changed since then! Started my adult life in advertising, but really wanted to run my own bed and breakfast so I jumped into the hospitality industry working at two Charlotte inns. The inns also hosted events and meetings and I quickly found myself on the path of booking and planning weddings, corporate meetings, and other special events. After 5.5 years, I moved to one of the newest upscale hotels in Charlotte where I continued event planning for 9+ more years. Working for a hotel also helped satisfy my travel bug! My years in the events industry working with great chefs and food & beverage directors along with traveling the world finding culinary treasures tapped my true passion for all things food and beverage! My husband, and occasionally our dog, lucked up because I started cooking more “from scratch” (unlucky though because the rule in our house is that who doesn’t cook…cleans). As with many, cooking shows were addictive and I fell in love with Ina Garten, The Barefoot Contessa, using her as my inspiration and cooking coach. ”How good is that?” When I am not doing all those foodie things, I love finding peace and strength through yoga. Singing along to all kinds of music although I know it is painful for those around me. I appreciate photography art and the art of rocking on a front porch with a good magazine in the mountains. And most importantly, nurturing my relationships with God, my husband, family and friends. So now, I want to take YOU, a fellow foodie or not, on a culinary adventure through the city that I love as well as highlight an industry that is so cool and ever-changing thanks to the culinary artisans that have also followed their passions and inspirations.
