“Beautiful place to swim”
The Little River drops off a 12 foot ledge at Hooker Falls be-fore flowing into Cascade Lake further downstream. Hooker Falls is the fourth waterfall on Little River starting with Bridal Veil Falls, then High Falls, Triple Falls and Hooker Falls. Exit Hooker Falls parking lot through the Gate and bear left on Hooker Falls Road 0.3 miles to the viewing area and an-other 0.1 miles to base of the falls.
DuPont State Recreational Forest has many waterfalls to explore. The easiest of these to get to is Hooker falls. It is a fairly easy hike to get here on a gravel path with a bit of a downhill/step portion at the end to get to water level, otherwise they can also be seen from above on the path.
Fun fact: these are the falls Daniel Day Lewis floats over in a canoe in The Last Of The Mohicans
Hooker Falls is practically in my backyard, so I am there all the time! The water is a bit chilly, which is VERY refreshing on a hot day, but can take a little bit of bravery to jump into! You can go behind the falls, most people sit down and scoot along the edge on their bottoms. It's an excellent falls for families and all age groups, with an easy hike there and back. The swimming here is excellent and it's truly something to get up close and personal with the waterfall. I also work at a boarding school, and bring my students here frequently. They love it! It can be a bit crowded, but still, so worth it.
An easy hiking trail leads you to the breathtaking falls. This is a great hike for families with children, which could be why Hooker is one of the busier falls in DuPont.
This is a really wonderful and breathtaking falls. The hiking trail is not really that difficult and you can do it even when you are with your kids! Go here and you will find yourself falling in love with the beauty of nature!
It's a really pretty waterfall, you can go under it. The only problem is there's always a lot of people there.
