To cross the Delaware Bay with your vehicle, simply call ahead at 1-800-64FERRY (1-800-643-3779). Each ferry carries 1,000 passengers but holds only 100 cars, so reservations are recommended year-round, especially around holidays and weekends. Enjoy historic lighthouses, picturesque harbors, oceangoing vessels, unique seabirds and, just maybe, your very own dolphin escort! The 17-mile, 85-minute cruise between New Jersey and Delaware can cut miles off a trip along the Atlantic Coast, connecting points like Wildwood, Stone Harbor, Avalon, Ocean City and the rest of the Jersey Shore with Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Sussex Shores, Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, Ocean City, MD, and destinations throughout Virginia.
We did this July of 2015 from Lewes to Cape May. It was so cool driving our RV onto the ferry. The kids loved it, the ferry was clean, staff was nice and drinks were reasonable. It did cost about $80. for the RV and family of 5. Lots of people take their bikes for the day to explore.
