We stayed here instead of the canyon because if you camp in the canyon you don't get phone or satellite service. It's an OK park with many permanents which always brings a park down. The flies were also very bad. The grass needed mowing and the spaces are very close together. They are also the kind that are double parked, so if you have someone behind you, you can't hook up your tow vehicle until you pull out on the road. The utilities are alternate which means your door is facing your neighbor's door and with the spaces so close together, it is very uncomfortable if you want to sit outside. Also too close together to put your awning out. We were very lucky and our neighbor left after the first night and they did not fill the space for the duration of our stay.
We would stay here again because of the easy access, not because the park is that great.

It’s great for one night, peaceful, but crowded with lots of permanent residences. Site was ok, half gravel, half dirt, and a little muddy. Be careful if there is or has been a lot of rain, as it might be an issue.

We were originally going to camp at the State Park but they were full for the weekend. This campground was about 10-15 minutes from the park. It was only about 5 minutes from the History museum and not far from Amarillo. Staff (owner?) was very friendly and helpful. Site was narrow and muddy but with no one beside us, it worked fine. We had no one behind us so were able to drive through and hook up on the site. Lots of big rigs passing through. I used the laundry and it was clean and the machines worked well.

We stayed here for 2 nights, a weekend in late October, in a 24 foot trailer. We wanted to visit Palo Duro Canyon, but the campground was full! The woman who checked us in, Diana, was very helpful in suggesting where to go in the area. She gave us a good site, next to a very sweet resident, who we enjoyed talking with. They were regravelling sites, so not many were available. Biggest drawback for me, was road noise, but it did subside in the wee hours. This place is only about 10 minutes away from Palo Duro Canyon, and close to Canyon, where you can get anything you need. The showers were hot, but only one toilet, of the two, worked well. Only shower curtains, not much privacy. Pretty run down! The 4 washers worked okay, but only 2 dryers did. I’d stay here again, if my goal was to go to Palo Duro Canyon without a reservation.

Pretty awful. Campground was littered and ungroomed. My site was way off level, but didn't see any much better. Both shower doors were broken and just hanging from torn up hinges. Broken down excursion equipment here and there made it feel like and old farm.

We’d hoped to stay in the state park, but did not make reservations ahead of time and all sites there were taken. The Palo Duro RV Park is old and run down, but for one night we can make almost anything work. Staff was efficient and friendly. There was one bathroom open, which was clean, but had no toilet paper. The one shower that was open had plenty of hot water, soap, shampoo, conditioner and a broken door that couldn’t be closed. It was windy and dusty and the coyotes howled late into the night, yet we were happy to have an otherwise quiet and safe place so close to the park to come back to after an afternoon of hiking. Key lesson: make a reservation in the state park and use this RV park as a “plan B” if you do what we did.

Stopped in for an overnight on our way further north. The park is directly off the interstate. The host was warm and welcoming over the phone, very instructive. Office hours are limited so the welcome packet with parking instructions and codes is left in a box at the door. The park is well laid out, the entire thing is gravel, spaces relatively level. There is a laundromat, bathrooms which are clean, workout room. Small but clean enough. There were three washing machines in the laundry room and only two worked and those two were somewhat unlevel. But everything worked. Full hookups, plenty of space to pull in the pull throughs. Some road noise although it calms down after dark.

We had not planned on staying in Canyon over night after the show “Texas”, but tired people after a lot of driving, we decided to give this park a try. From the time we sent a text asking if there was availability, to getting our reservation, it was so easy and great! The bathrooms were nice and had special little travel size soaps and shampoos if you left yours. Everything was thought out nicely! We will remember this place. Thank you!

We spent the night on the way to New Mexico. The staff was friendly and helpful making the reservation over the phone, check-in was smooth - we got there after hours and it was all set up. Balance the noise of being next to the Interstate against the ease of being next to the Interstate. We didn’t use the showers or the laundry, so we can’t comment there. I would come back in our next trip.

We stayed here for two nights in June for our visit to the nearby State Park and to see the show "Texas." There was a heatwave in the Panhandle when we were here (117 degrees at bottom of Canyon!), so we gave up our spot in the park itself for the relatively cooler 107 degrees in Canyon, TX. So we booked at the last minute, but we got a great pull through 50amp spot.
The first impression of the place is that it's clearly been around for awhile. Some weeds amongst the trees. It feels like a site in northwest Texas. It's not beautifully groomed or landscaped. But is was a more than adequate home for us for two days.
Our initial contact with the office was a great, efficient experience. Friendly service then and when we arrived 45 minutes later. I was worried our site might be a bit uneven, as the ground was generally pock-marked with small dips, but our auto-levelers had us level on the first try without any blocks needed. That rarely happens! All utilities were close together and set up was a breeze.
We did not even try the wifi. I just used my very strong Verizon hotspot, and that worked for brief TV viewing in the evenings. We were parked near the "clubhouse" which we stepped into briefly. Pool table, books, restrooms and VHS tapes to borrow. That gives you an idea that this place could benefit from a little upgrade. The small outdoor area had a porch swing, horseshoes, and a few other games, along with a large firepit. During our time there, we never saw anyone availing themselves of ANY of it. Probably just too darn hot! The building next to it was the restroom, laundry, shower facility, but we did not look in.
There are speedbumps on the main drive up to the office. I didn't care for taking my motorhome and tow vehicle over those...I feel it was noisy overkill. But otherwise, we had no serious complaints and we enjoyed our stay in this modest but friendly place. (Oh, and the highway is fairly nearby, but just far enough away that we didn't really hear much traffic. Never impacted our ability to sleep!)
