Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on October 29, 2022This was a great place. We were there 10/23 and it was quite and relatively level. There are many place to setup and camp. We chose a spot about 1/2 mile from the Rt 64. We are two wheel drive with not much ground clearance. There are plenty more places as you go back in to the BLM. A little more ground clearance will be needed the further you go out the road. We have AT&T and had enough to text or call but that was about it.
The Desert View Campground was closed in late March, so we stayed here. The road turns off to the west from Hwy 64, just south of Mile Marker 170. It's a fairly steep drop, and there are some pits in the road at the cattle guard and beyond. We went slow with our 20' trailer and had no problem. There are spur roads branching north and south from FS (fire road) 682. The biggest RV site was taken by a family of tent campers, so we took a spur to the south. It took some maneuvering with our trailer, but we got a private, fairly level site. There are a lot of fire pits, some in the middle of what could be RV sites, so we had to work around those. This is a pleasant pinon and juniper forest, and even the sites nearest the highway have very little road noise. There are many other sites further along road #682. Before our trip I called the Tusayan Ranger District at 928-638-2443, and their Motor Vehicle Use Map, which they mailed me quickly at no charge. This shows dispersed camping sites in the national forest near Grand Canyon. We wanted to explore the east end of the South Rim, and this was a good base for that, before moving to the crowds around Grand Canyon Village.

This is not far from the Desert View Campground at the Grand Canyon. When I first came in I did not know what to expect so I grab a spot close to 64 , but it was still pretty quiet. Later I hiked around and found many great spots down the grave road. Just stop and look for low hanging trees on some of the dirt roads. Shhh don't tell everyone about this or they may mess it up :-)
Only one bar on my Verizon but no problem with phone calls. Slow streaming but it worked.

I stayed on the gravel until it ended. Tacoma with a 23’ Airstream Flying Cloud. Road might get a little challenging with rain. A lot of remote spots further in. I still have 2 bars of 5G half mile in. T Mobile

I stayed here for about a week. It’s not much to look at but it’s a great empty space enough for plenty of rigs. Had a few come and go while I was here. There are other campsites scattered around this area but the terrain is rocky and cell service intermittent. I would’ve stayed the full 14 days if cell service was better. At night it disappears for some reason and during the day work was a bit difficult and laggy. Great location to the Grand Canyon and about an hour from Flagstaff.

We Got There Around 9pm Thought That The Might Be Packed But Instead We Got The Place Which Is Very Spacious. My Favorite Part Was Staring At The Star Which Is So Breath Taking, It Worth Every Second We Spent There

We are a big rig so we pulled into the first big spot there was and stayed for 3 nights. Very quiet and peaceful - we loved it! After that it was a short drive to the east entrance of the Grand Canyon national park. There was parking there for rvs and it wasn’t very crowded. We then drove through to the south side and there was nowhere to even stop - so crowded - definitely no parking for a big rig. So glad we stopped on the east side and got to see it at all.
