This forest is a part of the historic homelands of the Sinkyone people(s).
The Rockefeller Loop Trail/Bull Creek Flat trail is at the foot of the majestic 10,000 acre Rockefeller Forest. The Rockefeller Forest is the largest remaining contiguous old-growth coastal redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forest in the world.
Directions: From Highway 101 take exit 663 - Honeydew (this is north of Garberville). Follow signs on Honeydew Rd. about 1.5 mi to Rockefeller Forest. Turn right at the sign for Rockefeller Loop Trail. If you are coming from the Avenue of the Giants: four miles north of the park visitor center and just south of the hamlet of Redcrest, turn west on Mattole Road (mile marker 20.6) and drive 1.5 miles to the parking area for the Rockefeller Forest Loop Trail. Park headquarters and the Visitor Center are located on the Avenue of the Giants, State Route 254, between the towns of Weott and Myers Flat. Weott is 228 miles north of San Francisco on Highway 101.
