“beautiful views and mountain peaks”
Located in California's beautiful Eastern Sierra, the Inyo National Forest offers clean air, crystal blue skies, mountain lakes and streams, challenging trails, high mountain peaks, and beautiful views. With over two million acres, the Inyo National Forest is home to many natural wonders, including Mt. Whitney, Mono Lake, Mammoth Lakes Basin, and the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, as well as nine Congressionally-designated Wildernesses, comprising over 800,000 acres of land.
While driving east, the decision we took to stop at the Inyo National Forest was on of the greatest we had taken.
The surroundings are natural and jaw dropping! The pine trees are everywhere and you can smell nature in the air. The mountain tops still had snow on them as they are high enough to keep the low temperatures even if the temperature at the ground level is high!
The campground is amazing and there were lots of people on site. Very clean and well cared environment!
camping at June Lake, skied Mammoth, drove to Ancient Bristlecone Pine and camped in many places on Hwy 395

Secluded and solitary during the winter months. I visited in mid-November and I highly recommend the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.
A must place to visit. What an experience and very interesting place. Go there if you like nature.
