We stayed in site 122 for 2 nights. We did have a level spot for our tent, but the bear box, tent and picnic table were in the sun for most of the day. Don't forget the shade for the picnic table like we did. We were 1 site away from the bathroom, which is pretty clean. No showers, but there are 2 toilets and a sink. Also, it is not lighted at night - bring your flashlight.

The last night we were in site 127, where the tent space was not level and we spent the night sliding around. It didn't looks that uneven, but it was. This site was a long way from the bathrooms, which could be found either uphill or downhill - a hike in the middle of the night.

Overall, most sites were pretty small and close together. Many large groups were there and the rangers didn't seem to care about too many people at a site or huge fires, despite the apparent fire danger. The kids had a wonderful time climbing the rocks and playing with new friends. There are some nice hikes that are accessed from within the campground - around 2 miles each way.

This campground is centrally located to major attractions in Sequoia. There is a little store just 3 miles away. Lots of mosquitoes and such. We were there the last week of July.

Also, there was no cell coverage for T-Mobile or Verizon. However, I heard that if you hiked to the top of Little Baldy, you could get a signal. This is a 3 mile round-trip, located across from site 121.

Stayed June 2016

There was an unpleasant site of youths blasting music until 11pm or so when someone asked them to stop, and lots of family groups and cooking and chatter. It's in Sequoia, so it's quite a coveted stop. If you miss the turn in, you'll have to go a ways to Uturn into the camp road, so keep your eyes peeled.

This site is just downhill of the bathroom, so people kept cutting through on their way thanks to a well-worn footpath. Which did get annoying for. Otherwise, it was *mostly* level and convenient, with bear boxes and a picnic table. Did get nice and dark at night, no lighting, so bring a headlamp. And earplugs.

Pay showers at Lodgepole village 20 minutes away, and there is a LINE in the evening before they close.

We tent camped for several days here and it was beautiful! we saw derr every day, just walking by our camp. no bears seen in our camp but we saw some near the campground. the bathrooms were always clean and i am fairly picky about a clean bathroom. Clean water is easily accessible and the dumpsters were easy to get to. Most of the RV spots looked like they were not shaded well but the tent sites I looked at were surrounded by trees and shade was plentiful. It made such a great base camp for us as it is not far from the Kings Canyon park or Lake Hume as well as the sites in the Sequoia park. We decided to come back again this year!

Warm days but cool nights. We stayed from June 20 thru June 23. The loop we stayed in was not very shaded due to many of the trees having to be cut down because of beetle kill. But other than that it was a pleasant camping experience. There is a free shuttle from the campground that takes you to all the main areas of Sequoia NP. The campground has flush toilets and a dump station but no showers. The closet showers are at Lodge Pole visitor center.

Great location and amazing weather. Right in the middle of the attractions. We would stay here again. Now the bad, no camp host so it was like the Wild West, the campers in front of us easily had 30 people and a small city set up. No generator hours were observed, and people were running construction generators all day long. Park rangers strolled by once per day. Dump station and water located in the first loop. Lots of wildlife!

Dorst Creek Campground is in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks in central California at an elevation of 6700 feet (2042m). There are several meadows and small streams inside the campground, along with spectacular groves of giant Sequoia trees nearby.  Several popular day-hikes originate from or near the campground.
