“it's a little house on the prairie”
Guided tours reveal the unpublished story of Laura's time in Burr Oak. In 1876; nine-year-old Laura Ingalls and her family moved to Iowa to help manage the Master's Hotel. Grace Pearl Ingalls was born here in 1877. Restored to its 1876 appearance; the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places; along with the restored 1910 Burr Oak Savings Bank. The bank visitor center has a self-guided tour; gift shop; and restrooms. Adjacent park has picnic shelter and playground.
