“blend in with the natural beauty”
The campground is composed of two loops, winding around the boulders, slabs and cliffs of the Vedauwoo rock formation which comprises 10 square miles of weathered Sherman granite. There are 28 campsites with tables, fire rings, trash pick up and vault toilets. This area is constructed to blend in with the natural beauty of the surroundings. The vegetation is a variety of Limber pine, Engleman spruce, Douglas fir and Aspen. The general area was once used as a hideout for outlaws. Native Americans thought playful spirits piled up the boulders. All the tent sites are walk-ins and some of them are so secluded, one might feel the "outlaw's spirit." There is access to rock climbing and a nature trail through the rocks.
I loved the beauty of this area, I didn't have time to explore but it is definitely on my list of must see again when I have some time
Convenient, clean, quiet, and scenic too. No running water in late July 2014, though the signs said there was a hand pump with drinking water hiding somewhere. Cute little nature trails. Made for great road-trip tent camping.
Beautiful location close to I-80. FCFS and we took the last RV spot so it’s definitely hit and miss. The road noise was distant so it did not bother us. The views and hiking were great! Only $10 a night; best deal ever. Will definitely come back.
Beautiful campsites hidden in between the rocky terrain. It gets chilly and windy at night, make sure to bring warm clothing. Not too many accommodations: no running water and no electricity. However there were great bathroom facilities, friendly people, and a gorgeous view. One downside was hearing the hum of traffic on I80. Take the time to explore the unique boulder formations!
This was one of the most beautiful campsites we have ever been to! We could not believe it was only $10.
Make sure to have time to explore because there are incredible trails with breathe taking rock formations. We are in love with this area and are sure to return.
They did not have running water. None of the ground pumps worked. Make sure to bring your own water.
