“Home of the original buffalo wing”

One night back on March 4,1964, Dominic Bellissimo was tending bar at the now famous Anchor Bar Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. Late that evening, a group of Dominic's friends arrived at the bar with ravenous appetites. Dominic asked his mother, Teressa, to prepare something for his friends to eat. They looked like chicken wings, a part of the chicken that usually went into the stock pot for soup. Teressa had deep fried the wings and flavored them with a secret sauce. The wings were an instant hit and it didn't take long for people to flock to the bar to experience this new taste sensation. From that evening on, Buffalo Wings became a regular part of the menu at the Anchor Bar. The phenomenon created in 1964 by Teressa Bellissimo has spread across the globe. Although many have tried to duplicate Buffalo Wings, the closely guarded secret recipe is what makes Frank & Teressa's the proclaimed "Best Wings in the World." Anchor Bar has been featured on Food Wars, Food Paradise, and Throwdown with Bobby Flay.

Hype aside, these were damn good wings. They were big and they were crispy!

Don't be fooled by any other restaurant that serves wings. Once you've had anchor bar wings, you will compare every other wing to them. Well worth the stop in Buffalo!

I was so excited to go there. We have an awesome Wing Joint in KC called The Peanut. I will keep getting my wings there. I was disappointed. ADA accessible was the bonus...

Visited the Anchor last October and had one of the worst experience at a restaurant ever. First the waitress took forever to take our order, why other waitresses buzzed around tending to their tables, not even acknowledging our existence. When our waitress finally arrived she acted like she did not want to be there. Even when she did take our orders, she continue with her attitude and even made an error on one of the orders and seem perturbed that we wanted corrected. If that wasn't bad enough the wings I ordered were sub par at best. Anchor may be the originator of buffalo wings, but they are from perfecting them. I could never recommend this place to anyone. Very, very disappointing!
