“inside the Leon Myers Stamp Center”
This gift shop houses the largest ball of stamps. All 4.6+ million of them. That was a lot of licking. The Leon Myers Stamp Center is a museum and office located in the Boys Town Visitors Center. The Stamp Center promotes stamp collecting among youth and adults, and supports Boys Town programs by selling donated stamps.
I just visited the stamps but that alone is worth the stop. They have used stamps from all over the globe for only a penny a piece.
Closed to the public due to covid ☹️
The core of this giant ball is supposedly a golf ball. Kinda cool
Pretty neat place. The mural behind the ball is also made all of stamps. My 4 year old had fun looking through and picking out stamps to buy (penny a piece!) Cheapest souvenirs ever!
The World's Largest Ball of Stamps weighs in at more than 600 pounds and took over three years to construct. Be sure to check out the shop's collection of vintage and foreign stamps too!
We did not make the connection that this was in Boys Town. If you go to see the ball of stamps, take the time to tour Boys Town and go to the museum.
Still closed. 😞
May 13th, 2021 : Still closed due to Covid - said they may open in July, but be sure to call ahead! Sad to miss this pretty cool thing to see! Maybe next time :)
Not there anymore. :(
Amazing! They sold vintage stamps for a penny each. I often think back and wish I had bought more! So much fun.
