“dedicated to the liberal arts”
Established in 1880, Emerson College is named for its founding president, Charles Wesley Emerson, an orator, preacher, and teacher. Over the years, the institution has evolved from a small New England school of oratory to a multifaceted college with an international reputation. Emerson College is the only comprehensive college in America dedicated exclusively to communication and the arts in a liberal arts context. Boston, Mass. Emerson is most accessible by public transportation (the "T", Bostonians' affectionate term for the subway). The campus is located at Boylston Station on the Green Line.
