“The world’s largest scrap metal sculpture”
The world’s largest scrap metal sculpture, this three-ton sculpture was built in the 1980’s out of two Thomas Edison dynamos from the 1880s, lightning rods, components from 1920′s power plants, scrap from Badger Army Ammunition Plant, and most impressively, the decontamination chamber from the Apollo 11 spacecraft (among other things). According to sculptor Tom Every, the fictional Dr. Evermore is a Victorian inventor who designed the Forevertron to launch himself, "into the heavens on a magnetic lightning force beam." There are numerous other sculptures on the grounds, including a ‘bird band’ of over 70 birds. Open: Thursday - Monday Closed:Tuesday & Wednesday Hours: 11 AM - 5 PM (may vary)
Google map doesn't have the right location for this place. On Hwy 12 go about 1/2 block S. of Delany' Surplus and turn right on an unmarked private road. Sign for Forevertron doesn't show up for another 200'. Apple map is correct.
They don't tell you it's closed on Tuesday and Wednesdays!!
Visited June 27, 2014 for my birthday and July 5, 2014. This place far exceeded my expectations! Our GPS was a little off in finding it but it was easy to guess our way there. Anyone who loves steam punk, art, antiques, pure imagination, rust....iron beauty must visit. I couldn't believe the sheer mass of work their was to see and honestly some of the creations were downright beautiful! I'd go again and again!
One of the coolest places anywhere!
Fan-freaking-tastic!!! Amazing amount of things to see, looks smaller from the road but definitely a must stop.
Definitely worth the stop. it's amazing what can be made from scrap. The artwork was fabulous!
OPENS IN APRIL!
Technically free, but do consider making a small donation to keep this place alive and well!
very cool
One of the most magical places I've ever been! Dr. Evermor's Forevertron is definitely worth a visit even if it's a bit out of your way. Explore the world's largest scrap metal sculpture and be inspired by Tom Every's incredible creations.
Travel tips: The park is actually opens at noon on Sunday, not 11 am. And if directions are a problem, simply type Forevertron into Google Maps to be directed to the correct entrance.
