“fossil over 440 million years old!”

Trammel Fossil Park is located at the end of Tramway Drive off Hauck Drive, off Route 42 in Sharonville. This park is very unique and includes fossils originating from the Ordovician Period, dating over 440 million years ago. Visitors may keep what they find. Informational signs are on site to educate and aid in the understanding of the time period and identify the fossils found at the park. Picnic tables, drinking fountains, and a hiking trail leading to a hilltop view of Cincinnati are located on Trammel Fossil Park property. Portable toilets and hand washing stations are available April through November 1.

7 year old had a great time searching for fossils. Brought along a bucket and garden shovel (shovel wasn't necessary there are plenty of fossils on the ground). It was lightly raining when we went so everything was very muddy and there really isn't anywhere to wash up (three cheers for baby wipes). Lots of information about the fossils by the picnic area. Had our 1.5 year old with us. The park is not little kid friendly would recommend for school aged kids.

What a great time for kids AND adults!! Took our 5 and 11 year old boys, brought "paleontologist" tools (chisel, hammer, paint brushes and "specimen bags" (ziplock bags). We spent about 2-1/2 hours there and found lots of fossils. You don't have to dig or look hard, you can find them pretty much everywhere. But you can also make it more interesting with tools and magnifying glasses and brushes. Mom and Dad ended up exploring and searching for fossils, too. Engrossing, fun and rewarding. Don't forget your tools and a bag, your camera and water!!

Not just for kids! My husband and I had a great time picking through rocks and with the informative signs at the bottom of the hill we were able to find and identify several different types of fossils. If you love nature and history and have the patience to look around for a while don't miss this!

This is a neat place for any small one or anyone who loves rocks. It's an unusual gem in that it is in and behind a commercial park. With our 5 year old at the time it was a great hour long adventure to look through rocks and bring back treasures.
