It appears larger than a half acre so it’s a real value type of attraction. The truck stop on both sides of 15 has a nice sign with some details.
Nice little hwy rest area trail. We were on the southbound side (I believe there is also a trail on the northbound side) of I-15 coming out of Idaho Falls before Blackfoot. Clean restrooms and vending machines. There are 2 lava trails, one trail was short 1/4mi, paved and wheelchair accessible and one longer 1/2mi trail that indicates it’s recommended for foot traffic only. We were on a time crunch so we only took the shorter trail. Interesting fact boards along the trail. The terrain is so desolate and out of place. The trail also had benches and a few picnic table areas. It was a great way to stretch our legs on our roadtrip.
Cool trail. Very unexpected formation near parking area.
Interesting trail off rest area.
Trail out from a rest area
Nice 1/4 trail out from a test area overlooking a lava flow. Nice high desert landscape.
You drive right through it on Hwy 15 between Idaho Falls and Blackfoot. Really interesting to see how the landscape changes to this!
