“An absolutely gorgeous resort”
People have been drawn to the rugged landscape for centuries, and the best place to truly experience the untouched beauty of the Western scenery is to stay at a place that accentuates and embraces the desert instead of hiding it behind a a generic marble lobby— and there’s no hotel that does that better than Utah’s Amangiri Resort . It sits on 600 acres in a protected valley near the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The architecture and layout of the whole complex was designed to blend with and accentuate the surrounding landscape. As they put it, “Architecturally, the resort has been designed to blend into the landscape with natural hues, materials and textures a feature of the design. The structures are commanding and in proportion with the scale of the natural surroundings, yet provide an intimate setting from which to view and appreciate the landscape.” The resort features a huge spa complex that offers the usual treatments as well as some other(as well as “color therapy-enhanced floatation treatments”), a gallery that displays regional Navajo art, jewelry and handicrafts, an open-air desert lounge, and wonderful dining options, but the centerpiece of the hotel is, without question, their gorgeous pool. The pool is in a sunken courtyard and wraps around natural rocks, keeping with the desert theme of the resort. It’s got a hot tub along a gorgeous rock wall and king-sized day beds for lounging that appear to float on the pool. There’s also a pavilion nearby with a fire pit for warming yourself nearby during the cool winter nights. In addition to the 34 gorgeous suites offered at Amangiri, they are also in the process of building 36 villas, surrounded by 600 acres wild, undeveloped desert land and separated from the nearby resort by a rock escarpment. The breathtaking views of each villa will be complimented by private pools and expansive terraces. If you should tire of laying out by the pool and enjoying the relaxing spa treatments, there are tons of hiking trails on site, which take you past mesa, hoodoos, and even a cave and false mining shaft (used as a film location for the John Travolta movie Broken Arrow). There are also tons of rad things to do nearby, like Lake Powell, The Grand Canyon National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, and Monument Valley. Amangiri (peaceful mountain) is located on 600 acres in Canyon Point, Southern Utah, close to the border with Arizona. The resort is tucked into a protected valley with sweeping views towards the Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument. Built around a central swimming pool with spectacular views, the resort blends into its dramatic surrounds where deep canyons and towering plateaus create a raw landscape of immense power. Amangiri’s Aman Spa features a floatation therapy pavilion, water pavilion with sauna, steam room, cold plunge and step pool, fitness centre and yoga pavilion. The 34-suite Amangiri is just 20 minutes from the nearest airport of Page, Arizona. Amangiri offers a diverse adventure program with excursions such as hiking, via ferrata, horseback riding, canyon tours, private boating trips on Lake Powell, rafting trips on the Colorado River, scenic flights (by helicopter, small plane or hot air balloon), and day trips to the multitude of nearby national parks such as Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion. It also boasts a 25,000-square foot Aman Spa which offers treatments based on the ancient healing philosophies of the Navajo and a comprehensive yoga program.
Such a beautiful experience.
