“tour a one-of-a-kind custom castle”
Experience the old world charm of Newman’s Castle, a one-of-a-kind custom creation hidden just outside of town in the Bellville countryside. The castle features its own moat (watch out for gators!), a massive working 3000 lb. drawbridge with an accompanying portcullis, a chapel, five round corner turrets, a courtyard, and a central keep with a dramatic view of the surrounding lands. A perimeter wall encompasses the castle, ensuring you are safe from oncoming marauders during your visit. Groups of any size are welcome. Please call ahead of time to make reservations. The tour and the lunch are $15 per person. We ask you to call again a day or two before the actual trip date to confirm the final headcount. This way we will know how many lunches to prepare. On the day of the tour, plan to get to Bellville and arrive at Newman’s Bakery around 10:30am. Newman’s Bakery is located in the heart of Bellville, close to the historical square. A guide will join you to escort you out to the castle, approximately 5 miles out in the country. The tour and lunch will last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours Newman’s Castle is available for day tours and special events by reservation only. The castle hosts weddings, mystery dinners, wine tastings, birthday parties, and other special occasions. Call the bakery today at 979-865-9804 to check availability and reserve your date.
I recommended this facility to our local nursing home for a Day Trip. I feel so badly. Harris County provided buses. We had 26 Residents who went. Got to the Newman Bakery & no tour guide. Our bus was a little late but still no guides. Got to Castle. Nothing was Wheelchair accessible. Had to push wheelchairs in the mud & grass. Some of the rooms could not tour because you couldn't get wheelchairs into the rooms. The sand which & chips were fine but no drink included only cup of water. It's summertime you would think a small Lemonade or iced tea would have been included. They charged $15.00 for the sand which & chips. After you crossed through the Moat the walk way is all gravel! The walkway into Dining area is also gravel. This facility is not appropriate for Senior Citzens. Skip this facility & choose a place that is accessible for your group. Wish I had never recommended this Field Trip.
This would have been better for kids. The tour guide had a cheesy plastic crown and ushered the kids into different areas. It seemed crowded, and most of the adults seemed to head to the main building to get an early start in the sack lunches.
I'm hoping we were just there in an off day though, its under construction and tools were left accessible, which seemed unsafe.
Great place!! The owner is a super nice guy. You get lunch as well as entry for the price. It’s really good. You get to explore the castle on your own and interact with all items. Super cool;)
My Family enjoyed this was one of our favorite stops on trip. It is not handicap accessible. Keep in mind this is someone's home and they share it with the rest of us a definite must if you are close by.
Unfortunately not aivalable the sunday.
