Completed in 1964, is the flagship of a chain of visitor concessions strung along the Virginia portion of the Parkway. Nestled between two of the three mountains that make up the Peaks of Otter is the Peaks of Otter Lodge and Restaurant, located at Milepost 86 on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Bedford, Virginia, and open year round. Take in the breath-taking scenery of the mountains, its wildlife (deer are a famous staple of the area, along with an occasional bear) and the vibrant and ever-changing colors of the foliage.

Located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, I was blown away at the peace and beauty of this lodge. Every detail from the Adirondack chairs lining the waters edge, the rocking chairs on the front porch, the view of the lake from all cabins, the walking trails with plenty of seats to stop and take it all in, and the restaurant/bar with big brown leather couches and chairs nestled around the fireplace where we heard live mountain music. The staff was helpful and pleasant. There are a few hikes you can take from here from easy to challenging, just ask the front desk For suggestions. The Appalachian Trail picks up right next to this location too. The rooms themselves were clean and adequate. I heard they are remodeling, so they will only get better. I recommend this as a stop in your road trip or stay awhile and relax!

Stunning views!!! Looks like a story book setting! Rooms are very quaint and clean, and the lodge has EXCELLENT food! Can't wait to come back!

FABULOUS place! So beautiful! Each room has a view of the lake, nice walk to the restaurant. Wifi was even pretty good up in the mountain. We didn't have great weather so I would love to go back when it is nicer. I would stay here again!
