“Locally owned bar with a killer jukebox selection”
Red Shed Tavern is South Austin’s unique, locally owned neighborhood bar. We are housed in a renovated hundred-year-old stone cottage that has operated as a bar since prohibition. Back when South Congress Avenue was Highway 87, it was the last stop to get a beer before heading down to San Antonio. Rumor has it that the infamous Newton boys were patrons in the 1930s. In the late 80s it was a filming location for Pair of Aces, starring Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson, as well as the featured bar in the Texas comedy Nadinewith Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger. Red Shed Tavern offers an assortment of cocktails, import and craft beers, and wines. We run happy hour specials daily. Red Shed has a cozy indoor space with a billiard room, pinball, a beautiful limestone fireplace, and an eclectic "staff and patron picked" jukebox, as well as a large backyard patio conducive to South Austin lounging under the sun or stars. Hope you’ll stop in, invite friends, and stay a while.
