“Authentically Austin, distinctively Driskill”
Built in 1886 as the showplace of cattle baron Jesse Driskill, The Driskill Hotel remains a legendary landmark of Texas hospitality. As a member of The Historic Hotels of America and Associated Luxury Hotels International, The Driskill offers an elite level of luxury offerings and services to rank as one the world's finest hotels.
The Driskill is considered to be the most haunted building in Austin. Among the haunted happenings, the ghost of Colonel Driskill still roams around and guests claim to smell his cigar smoke. The ghost of a young child enjoys bouncing a ball on the first floor lobby (this may be the young daughter of a Texas Senator who died chasing her ball down a set of stairs). Even singer Annie Lenox claims to have experienced paranormal activity while staying at the hotel.
I stayed at the Driskill hotel with my mother for a business trip and I had a great experience. This is a historic place, very well-maintained, with some good vibes to it. The staff was very kind and courteous. Our room was very beautiful, kind of small, but the decoration was wonderful. We had asked for a room in the haunted section of the hotel, I didn’t see any ghosts or hear anything weird so I don’t know about that. The quality of the food that they serve at this hotel is one of the finest that you will ever experience. I love this place and I am going to visit it again, I highly recommend it to all of you.
