“Life is a Beach!”
At Atlanta State Park, you can fish, boat, water-ski and swim at a designated area (no lifeguard on duty). Ashore, you may walk, study nature, bird, camp, picnic, geocache, and jog or hike along roads, trails and shorelines. Explore hilly park roads on your bicycle. Fishermen enjoy this 20,300-acre reservoir (and its 75-pound catfish). The park has two boat ramps and a fish cleaning station. To find out more about fishing here, visit the Wright Patman Lake page. The park offers 4.8 miles of hiking trails, including a .8-mile nature trail. Campers can reserve one of 58 campsites. All sites have water and electricity; 14 of them have sewer hook-ups, too. The picnic pavilion and an amphitheater can be reserved for group events. The park store sells T-shirts and hats and a few other items, including some fishing supplies. Ice is also for sale. If you plan to swim at the park, read through our swimming safety tips before you come.

We really liked this park. Lots of tall, pine trees. Pine cones kept dropping on top of our RV. Nice lake. We caught lots of fish! Snakes around the lake banks though. We had a large pull-thru spot with a nice view of the lake. Nice bathrooms. Really enjoyed this park.

We stayed at one of the 50 amp full hookup pull through sites. All of the sites face a beautiful wooded area which was home to a multitude of deer and a resident fox. We had an extended stay due to truck issues and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. We even had a few parts mailed to the campground and one of the staff members delivered them to our RV. We did hike the Volksmarch trail twice during our stay, but did not make it to any of the others due to the gnat problem. Which would be my number one complaint about this park, which we realize is out of anyone's control. But, they were so bad that you could not walk outside without them swarming you and just flying all over you. I have included a picture of the side of our trailer with all the gnats on it. Luckily they were not this bad the entire 2 week stay. The park ranger did say it was common that time of year. The second complaint and last complaint is that there was only one designated swimming area. Since its pretty hot in Texas during this time, we like to take the dogs swimming. So if someone was already down there, we were out of luck. It is a short drive into to town for groceries and the hardware store. We were given directions to a laundromat in town and I would highly recommend avoiding it. It was called 'washateria'. We did not feel safe and left before our laundry was done. Other than that, we had a great stay and would recommend this park (sometime other than June due to the gnats)!
I did work in my RV while we were at the park and I have verizon and a booster and it worked fine.

Quiet park. Spots are well separated. Nice get-away from Dallas. Did not use the facilities.
As with most State parks, beware the entrance fee ($3/person)

We adored everything about this park. It was so spacious, beautiful, and quiet, we could have stayed here for weeks.
Like a few other campgrounds we've stayed at, this one featured sites that ran parallel to the road (as opposed to back in sites.) Even better than those other parks though, this one had a ton of space between the RV's. The sites also featured huge yards and lots of trees. As an aside, we checked out some of the sites at the other end of our loop. Those were back in sites, but they were also huge, private, and level. From what we saw, you really can't go wrong.
The park is located between Dallas and Hot Springs, so it was a convenient location for us to stop as we traveled between those two cities, but there wasn't much else around. It is about a 30 minute drive to Texarkana.
The campground is located on a gorgeous lake and there are tons of picnic tables and lovely places to walk. Our fellow campers were quiet and everyone was just enjoying the beautiful scenery. It was really an ideal campground. Throw in the fact that full hook-ups came at the bargain basement price of $16 per night, and we could not have been happier. (Beware of the Texas State Park daily fees though. If you'll be staying within the system for more than 7 days in a year, it's worthwhile to get the $70 annual park pass).

This is an older state park which could use a little love but gets the job done at a great price.
50 amp FHU but we lost power a couple of times during our stay for hours @ a time. This was throughout the campground, not just us.
The location is a ways off the highway so if you want quiet, this will fit that bill.
Stayed in Feb and there were only 4 campers in the entire FHU loop so it was nice to get some peace and quiet.
The amenities are limited. Bathrooms are fairly clean but outdated, canoes available, horseshoes, volleyball and hiking. Dog friendly with tons of walking areas including dog friendly trails.
There's a Super Walmart 20 min away and Texarkana is a 40 minute drive.
ATT and Verizon voice worked but cell internet was not usable until I hooked up the booster. With the booster I was able to pull in T mobile at 8d/l. Verizon and ATT were really bad even with the booster (less than 2d/l) so T mobile won for this spot.
OTA channels were available (some major) but did seem to come in and out a bit.

Reasonable price. Lots of amenities {swings, volley ball, horse shoes}. Well maintained. Pull thru parking very nice and spacious. Would be a great place for gatherings. Swimming beach wasn’t very pretty but water level was very low so that took away from it a bit. Would definitely stay there again. City of Atlanta is about 15 minutes away with all amenities. Shower heads were low, plenty hot water and clean. Ventilation was poor so it was hot even after dark in the showers. Lake views were scenic.

Very nice rustic park. While dated it is well maintained Showers and restrooms were very clean but sure could use and update. Located on Lake Wright Patterson and has a couple of boat ramps. Since it is a Texas State Park you do not need a fishing license! Nice hiking trails are well maintained. Canoes are available for rental at the Texas State Parks Store, Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely would stay here again!

We were surprisingly pleased with Atlanta State Park! Honestly we didn’t expect much, but this park is really nice. The woods are beautiful and the lake is placid! During the week it was incredibly quiet around the park with only a handful of visitors. On the weekend that number might have doubled. We chose a partial hook up spot right next to the bathhouse in the Wilkins camping area. The bathhouse was a little run down, but our biggest gripe is that they only had a bar of soap to wash your hands. And it wasn’t exactly the cleanest bar. 🤷♂️ Otherwise, it was fine other than being a little old. The other bathroom in another camping ground had been sort of renovated, and was much nicer.
Our biggest issue was erratic water pressure (mostly on the low end). During the week, we had no issues washing dishes or our hands in the trailer. But this weekend the water pressure is completely gone across the campground. Not sure what is going on, but just thankful we didn’t really need it in the trailer.
In our spot, Verizon (Visible) coverage was 2 bars and a little slow at times. Had to go up the hill one day to do some work and it was fine up there. We also use an AT&T hotspot and got one bar, but we’re able to stream Netflix and work from it most of the day.

Clean well maintained level sites. Plenty of trees and was able to hang a hammock. Beautiful sunset from these sites. Wish they would clear undergrowth so you had a unobstructed view of the beautiful lake. 1-2 bar AT&T LTE coverage that was good enough to stream to my fire stick in the evening. Water pressure was fine here although lower than some other parks. Didn’t use bathrooms as no need since I have my own.
