Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on June 12, 2022We are bicyclists and tent campers, hence the low low rate. However, we had water and electricity. Can’t beat that. The KOA we are staying at tomorrow charges $40 for a tent site with no electricity.
Camp staff very friendly. Campground very clean. Best bath houses I have ever seen.
A pain to get to by bike, but fine for rv.
Very close to interstate, so they is constant road noise. Probably would not hear it in an RV.

Americamps in Ashland proclaims a location is central to everything in Virginia. On I-95 half-way between Florida and Maine. according to the brochure, this campground is central to the entire east coast of the US or so it seems. Earl and I were traveling the Florida/Maine route so a stop at Americamps seemed a good plan, and I have a close friend nearby that I wanted to visit.
Though expensive, the resort was what it promised and turned out to be a great stopover. Our site — E1 — was an. easy-in, pull-through surfaced in uniform, coarse gravel that required little leveling. Hook-ups included electric, water, sewer and cable. A picnic table and fire ring were also provided. I like this kind of pull-through site for overnight stops so I don’t have to unhitch and can get an early start the next morning.
Wi-Fi was present by seemed a bit slow. I didn’t mess with it much since my long time friend had come for a visit during the evening. ATT service was good. Next to the Interstate, there is a bit of road noise. I did not find it much of a problem.
The price is a little bit off-putting, but I might stay here again on the way up I-95. Nearby Ashland had good stores including a large Ace Hardware that I stopped at on the way out.

This RV park has 200+ sites in a very decent layout. The sites have either concrete or gravel pads. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The park is nicely maintained. They provide an escort to your site.
Our deluxe site had concrete pad, FHU, picnic table, and fire ring. It was very close to the pool, camp store, bath house and fitness room. There is I-95 road noise, but it is tolerable.
Center of the Universe Brewing Company is right across the street for those who care to sip new craft beers and play table games.

All of the state parks were booked on the weekend. Thank Heavens we found this spot. You can see the highway from the RV Park. I don't know if you can hear the traffic as everyone was running their air conditioners. Very clean. Great for an overnight.

Very clean and very friendly staff. Really nice facilities that are well maintained. It is very close to the 95 with the resulting freeway noise, especially in the spaces out front. Across the road is a Bass Pro and several RV sales/service/supply places and 10 minutes away is a super Walmart with an RV section. All in all, very convenient and a really nice place to stay.

If you have to be close to Richmond, this place is where you want to stay. It's priced like a KOA and has the amenities to boot (except no on premises pizza or wine bar). They have a smallish new pool, dog park, pick up your trash, and pickup your empty LP tanks and deliver them full. They have WiFi which is not set up for everyone to stream movies, but the cell/data service is good. The laundry facilities are a bit small but well maintained.
People sensitive to noise won't like it as I-95 is right next to the campground. On the plus side, the Center of the Universe brewery is right next door.
They have long-term spots which are fairly reasonably priced, and until Covid-19 where waiting-list-only. However, right now there are open spots. The sites are well packed gravel and the roads are paved. The utilities are good and water pressure is fine. It's obvious they take some pride in their campground.

Descent place, we were only here one night. Lots of campers. Dog park and full hook ups. A little road noise from 95 but not to bad. I would stay here again.

Nicely cared for park that includes some amenities. We stayed for a week and seemed to be the only people using the fitness center. There is also a brewery next door which is a nice perk.

It has January 1st, and we were traveling on I-95 and had been delayed due to weather. We were looking for a place with hook-ups to stop for the night. This resort offered "late check-in" so we called ahead and confirmed that they had room for us. They said they had spots, a late check-in set-up, and they offered a AAA discount.
We arrived after the office was closed, completed the paperwork, and headed to our site. Since it was raining, we selected a concrete site which the website lists as $58.50 minus the AAA discount. We were surprised when we got home and saw our credit card had been billed for $66.69. (We are guessing we didn't get the AAA discount, and that Virginia has a high tax rate.)
The resort is gated - a code is needed to get to the sites. The amenities seemed nice, but we were not there long enough to use any of them, so I can't speak to their quality. While it is very close to I-95, the road noise was a lot less than we have experienced at other campgrounds near I-95.
If you are using the amenities, the price is OK, but for a "stop, sleep, and get back on the road", I would look for less expensive options or be sure to book into a "back-in site".
