“Close to the Superstition Mountains”
Teddy Roosevelt called the Superstition Mountains "the most beautiful panorama nature has created". You'll see, not far from the Mesa/Apache Junction KOA, where giant saguaro cacti rise from the Sonoran Desert floor against a backdrop of craggy granite ramparts. Drive the 145-mile Apache Trail loop, resplendent with deep canyons, rugged trails and pristine lakes. Also nearby, climb a short path up to ancient cliff-dweller Indian ruins at Tonto National Monument. Explore with off-road jeep tours or guided horseback rides into the foothills. Phoenix is 30 miles west of the campground, with great restaurants, museums and a choice of Major League Baseball spring training games. A heated pool, a hot tub, assorted games and fine hospitality await at KOA. Savor them as the sun sets over the mountains. Pool: Open all year. Max pull thru: 65 feet.

This is a nice looking in-town KOA, with most sites a little close together, but the trees and landscaping make it feel pretty nice. The "dog park" was disappointing: a tiny, 10 foot by 10 foot chain link fenced area. We did find a large empty field across the street that we used for dog walks. We tried the WiFi but found it to be unusable, but our AT&T and Verizon both worked well. Our site was unusually wide, but poorly laid out, with the electric and water hookup in the far back-right corner, and the sewer literally 60 feet away in the front-left. There was no way to position our motorhome to reach all the utilities, even parked diagonally across the site. The campground said many sites have utilities in strange places so they have 50-amp extension cables they loan to guests, but they were all loaned out already. They instead loaned us a 30-amp extension cable, and a water hose since our two 25-foot hoses combined were not long enough to reach the spigot. We asked to be moved but were told no other sites were available. I asked if we could be charged for a 30-amp site instead of the 50-amp site we reserved, since there was no way for us to access the 50-amp connection but the office said no. Once we were plugged in, our Progressive EMS kept shutting down power to our rig due to low voltage (below 104 volts). A camp host tested the pedestal, saw low voltage, but said there was nothing he could do. Another camp host we spoke with later said there have been other electrical problems and the system will be upgraded this summer. The next morning we asked to be moved, as there was an empty site 2 sites down (as suggested by a camp host) but were told all sites are already reserved. No one ever checked into that site during our stay. The person in the office didn't seem very interested in helping find a solution for us. We made it through our two night stay, using as little electricity as possible, and left frustrated. We will not return.

The previous reviewer said it all very well and quite accurate. Check in people were very nice, gentleman who show showed us to our site was helpful. Site was clean and as previously described. At check in they provided a slip of paper that said the water was going to be turned off at 8:00am the next morning. Okay, thanks for the warning. I went out at 7:30 to fill the RV tank and the water was already off. We had to deal with noisy dogs - which the office tried to address but was unsuccessful. Traffic noise, etc. I'd avoid this location - you can do MUCH better for the money.

Arrived around 5pm on Saturday without a reservation. We struggled to find any rv space elsewhere and KOA was a bit further than we wanted to travel.
The office was closed but there was a very helpful gentleman who helped is find a space (water and electric only). We really did need waste but no full hookup site was available and the sute dump was locked at night. The tent space we had for our 26ft ev was gravel, water pressure was good with 30v power. Washrooms and showers were nearby and provided in the cost.
We "dumped' in the morning and also filled the LPG. The checkin staff also applied a discount to our stay without our knowledge which was very nice. All the staff were very helpful.
There is a pool and hot tub but we didn't have time to use them.
A little road noise on our site but nothing too bad.

We had an all-around good experience here. The pull-thru sites were plenty spacious, particularly on the side where your patio is. The facilities were very clean and well-maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice view of the mountains nearby. Good overall location for the area. The immediate area wasn't anything special, and there wasn't anywhere to walk right from the campground, but a close enough drive to great hikes, and close to town. We'd stay here again.

Staff was great! WiFi was worthless. Quiet and very clean. Gravel sites are kinda annoying.

Stayed here mid-Jan 2024.
Pull-through FHU 50 amp. All gravel. Site #41.
General: It's an acceptable option to see some local stuff. The area smells bad some days.
Staff: Staff are very nice and helpful.
Sites: Our site (#41) was very spacious and had LOTS of room behind it all the way to the retaining wall at the main road. Had daily trouble with folks site cutting with dogs off-leash, and most were repeatedly disrespectful when asked to use the campground road to access the area.
Campground Road: Paved/gravel mix.
Campground WiFi: Could not connect on any attempt for thee 14 nights.
Grounds: Clean and maintained really well. But definitely needs updating.
Bathrooms/Showers: Shower stalls in an open bathroom environment. Poorly light showers.
Laundry: 6 washers (a couple did not work well) and 2 working dryers (1 was out of order).
Pool: Did not use.
Location: 3-5 min from gas and groceries. 20 min to Lost Dutchman, 45 to Casa Grande NM, 1hr 20min to Tonto. 25-35 min to Phoenix and Scottsdale areas.
Near highway: Yes. Close to highway and highway noise if that bothers you.
Near train: No.
Cell: Verizon worked but the signal is deceiving. Spotty and caused issues with meetings cutting out. Could stream but with buffering.
Cell: AT&T worked best and could work on vpn and uninterrupted Zoom calls. Could also stream movies.

A no frills KOA. Sites were level and well maintained.
Sometimes it smelled like sewage. Did not use the wifi as used my own Starlink.
One small dog park in the very back, can be busy at times.
Only real complaint was that halfway through my shower the water went ice cold. No fun.

Site 54. Stayed overnight. Overall, park was clean and well maintained. Bathroom and pool were clean. Staff was super helpful, friendly, and treated RVers professionally. Site 54was unlevel, front-to-back, so as a journey site, it was not a good one. SIte 54 was noisy, being right at the entrance and close to the road. The site had illumination by a bright street light adjacent to the dump station. We’ve stayed here many times, and this was the worse site we’ve ever had. Will return, but hopefully we can stay away from this front row. Leave this row to those who need close access to the bathrooms.

Check in people nice, gentleman who showed us to our spot was very friendly. Sites are gravel, fairly level. Gravel is small so it sticks in your shoes and then you track it in.
We had to leave a day early - they do not give refunds. They have a sign at check in - they are not hiding the policy but I still find it irritating.
This is the second time I have stayed there. Water pressure is low, didn't use cable. Had an electrical short in the 30amp side so had to use a converter and hooked up to 50amp. Test the connections before you hook up.
Noisy, lots of noisy road traffic and both times I have been here there have been lots of barking dogs that just don't shut up.
You can find much nicer for less money.
