“nature orientated educational activities”
The Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center is a town owned and operated park whose mission is to foster an ethic of environmental stewardship that will connect our communities to the natural world of the Lower Naugatuck River Valley, and balance the demand for recreation with the need for conservation. The park provides a variety of recreation activities, with an emphasis on nature orientated educational activities. The park was previously a small dairy farm and is now made up of 104 acres of wooded hills and grassy fields, complete with two and a half miles of hiking trails. Additional habitats at the center include a pond, a wet meadow, and an upland swamp. A variety of wildlife species can also be observed by all ages: A butterfly and hummingbird garden and a woodland-fern garden are two beautiful attractions located at the center.
