The place is clean, but it is behind a trailer park, the Wi-Fi is very slow, there are trains very close by the call and there's also an airport close by. The staff are very helpful. The cabins are nice and block out the noise. But tents are placed closest to tracks. Two showers in bathrooms, but clean.

This campground was very nice in lots of ways: friendly staff, clean, convenient facilities, affordable supplies, an old-school type playground that our kids loved, and easy access off the highway. We enjoyed our time there.

However, there are things that were not great, as well: the surrounding location (largely industrial) was rough, with an unsavory trailer park immediately next door, as well as an airport &
train tracks very nearby, leading to lots of noise, especially overnight. The tent sites had little to no shade and the ground was so hard that we had to buy a hammer to put in tent stakes.

This was a suitable stopover on a long road trip, but not a place I’d go out of my way to stay.

Shop was well stocked and had a variety of fun items ranging from Texas Wine to Route 66 novelty items. Bathrooms were older but well maintained and clean. Staff was friendly. There is a lot of fun decorative iron to look at. The camp-sights themselves were not that nice. Overall this is a good place to spend one night.

Nice campground with clean bathroom and showers. Traveler beware if you come in after hours. We didn't have any power, and tried calling the emergency number listed on the night check in. No answer and voice-mail was full. We ended up using the 110 to get through the night (it was 11pm by that time). In the morning when I mentioned the issue to them. I was told that it happened before, and mistakes happen. They asked if I had called the other number listed on the window, and I said no, we had found a way around it by that time. She said she was sorry, and hoped today was better. Very frustrating to hear that they were aware of the issue with the after hours number, but didn't do anything about it.

In the absolute middle of nowhere, two sex shops and a porn studio nearby, but no restaurants. A bit of a drive into actual Amarillo. Also, if you’re tent camping, check the wind speed, because our tent almost blew away at 1am lol. No complimentary coffee either.

This is THE WORST KOA we’ve ever stayed at period. We have spend 8 years an 85,000 miles traveling across the USA and Canada, and never once have been asked to leave!! The manager was apparently having a bay day, and when I asked her if the WiFi was working, she deflected the question by referring to the bad storms recently. But is the internet working? No, she said, I muttered “that figures” under my breath, which she didn’t take kindly to and asked if I wanted a refund. I asked her if she was “knocking something off” for the lack of WiFi? She said that was free, I’m canceling your reservation (we had just driven 400 miles and wasn’t taking kindly to this). Ok, let’s just cool off a minute, I said. Let me clear up an apparent issue here, when I said “that figures” it wasn’t about you. We’ve just traveled 6,000 miles and stayed at 28 KOAs and most of them had internet issues too, I also think it would have been polite to let people know in advance in case we need to make another choice. Then she lost it… In a very raised voice she says, What do you expect me to do, call all of my 100,000 visitors and let them know? Obviously not, but maybe a sign in the window or letting me know when I’m making the reservations could work? She then said I had 1 hr to leave before she called the police? Are you KIDDING ME??? You throwing me out of the park over an internet issue? Then some other KOA Shirt that I’d never seen before, chimes in “You’ve been causing trouble ever since you got here”! Excuse me???? I’ve never met you and I’ve only been here 20 mins, what exactly did I do? You raised your voice! Ohhh that crime, I’m outta here.. my wife have also traveled the world for the last 40 years without incident…Goodbye Amarillo KOA, and good riddance (home office notified of your shameful behavior)

Stayed here to rest up and wait out a cold front moving through. Very dry, dusty, and hot. Only small trees so it has future potential. Our rig very basic with no water or sewer needs. Nice hosts!

The campground itself is what to expect from a Journey. It’s clean well leveled and easy access. Checkin was great and easy.

But the price here compared to other journeys is way higher and it is noisy due to the regular passing trains.

There aren’t many options for over nights in this area and I guess they get to put the price up.

The area is not very pretty….. open fields lots of wind.

At least 5 trains roll by overnight with air horns as they approach road crossings. You will get no sleep here.
