Visited Wiederkehr today. It's still the off season, so the vineyards were still brown. Upon looking closer one could see some tiny green buds trying to make their way through the branches. The village was nice and quaint, but some buildings had not opened up for the season, so we had to walk around a bit until we saw the retail shop. There was a super nice lady who offered to give us a tour. She took us to a cellar hand built by a previous generation, and in a very interesting manner, compared the "old" way to the newer way of winemaking. After the tour, we went back to the retail area to a beautiful bar in the back, where we sampled 3 delicious wines. For an additional $5 per person, one can choose an additional 5 selections to sample. From the list provided, it seemed like a worthwhile investment. I plan on doing this when I return in May. After purchasing a couple bottles of wine, we made our way to the restaurant. Apart from seeming a bit like a tourist trap, it is a family business, and the retail area did offer a small variety of other food products with the family label (grapeseed oil, fudge sauces, etc.)
Don't waste your time! It's rundown and not worth the time.
