This was a great place! We went camping for the weekend and really enjoyed it. The spring is awesome and was the perfect spring for everyone from the grandchildren that needed a shallow area to the bigger grandchildren that likes to go a little deeper but not over his head. The big kids loved it to (the grandkids parents) they could go to the end where the spring head was to snorkel and swim around. One thing I will warn you about is the deer fly! Those things like to bite and itch way more than mosquitoes so bring some bug spray.
Not quite as nice as nearby Juniper Springs, but real close. Most sites do not offer privacy from neighbors, but most are at some distance from the adjoining sites.
In February, all campgrounds in Ocala National Forest are crowded, Daytona is close by, so you will need reservations for a weekend stay. Weekdays you MAY find a spot. We had to use a handicap site. About half the sites here have sun for solar charging.
The principal reason to camp here is to paddle the river formed from the spring. It's quite scenic. The water is 72, so if that's warm to you, the swimming is great.
You can hear some road noise in the campground.
We could use the cell outside the rig. However, data worked fine inside unboosted.
Our rating reflects it being a Forest Service campground. Another scale would be used if it were say a private CG.

We stayed at ALEXANDER Springs over the Christmas weekend. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Because we had no connection to WiFi or cell service, they allowed us to use the service at the check-in area to contact our family to send a Christmas greeting. 😍
The campsites were primitive and peaceful. We did hear noise from the road occasionally, but it was not bad.

Great winter camping spot. Campground packs out on weekends and empties during the week. Springs are gorgeous- mask and snorkel a must! Kayak/canoe the run from the springs and paddle back for lots of wildlife viewing including gators. Our campsite was spacious with room for my daughter and family with tent to join us for the weekend. Restrooms/showers are nice and clean. Timucuan trail around springs is board-walked most of the way with viewpoints over the water. Florida trail access is also just outside entrance gate. Love this park.

First let me say the spring & swimming area are awesome!! I went swimming every weekday morning we were there. Weekends it is packed but during the week almost had the place to myself.
Check-in was easy & informative.
Our campsite was mostly level. Very roomy. No hookups. Not as much privacy as we like but in no way felt crowded. Some sites have more greenery shielding them than others & some are far from level but they all seem to be nice sized. There are bear proof food storage boxes at each site, grill, fire pit, table, and lantern pole. Bathrooms/showers are very nice. I think they are cleaned 2 or 3 times a day. Joyce, Clyde & Sharon (hosts/managers) were very nice, helpful & friendly. There is a camp store at day area open weekends. It has souvenirs & basic supplies.

We decided to camp here at the last moment. This campground is located in the middle of Ocala National Forest and we were super excited to stay next to Florida Springs. The campground seemed to have a lot of outdoor activities and amenities, such as biking, canoeing, hiking and swimming.
Although the campground itself is sort of average, the pure and clear Florida Springs amazed us and we end up spending most of our day light time at it. We were trying to find some nature trails, but the only ones we were able to hike/bike was the one going to the recreational area. Wish there was more nature trails to show off that Florida beauty.

We stayed in site 8. Great site for a trailer. There is a pretty big step from the pavement to the sand. I always trip or stub my toe. Sites only sort of level. Surprisingly good cell service with Verizon. 5 to 10 mbps. You really have be careful about the site you pick. A lot of sites are only good for tents.

Second-year to stay here on site 66, it is a handy cap site. 38 ft coach with a tow vehicle, the site is level and easy access. The springs are very pretty and clear. The only downfall is this year they are having a water problem and having to close down the shower houses at times.
