Stillwell's Store and RV Park is located just north of Big Bend National Park, about 8 miles from the Persimmon Gap entrance. ****NOT LOCATED IN ANY TOWN, WE ARE 45 MILES SOUTH OF MARATHON**** The old-fashioned general store carries soft drinks, beer, ice, canned goods and regular gasoline. Our RV park features sites with full 30/50 amp hook-ups (electric, water and sewer), water and electric only sites, dry sites and tent sites. Stillwell is a practical campground with a lot of history, not a resort. Come enjoy the peace and quiet at Stillwell while exploring the nearby Big Bend National Park and Black Gap Wildlife Management Area. Given our ideal location, this is the perfect spot for stargazers, bird watchers and those just wanting to unplug for a bit. Whether it's for a short and or long-term stay, we hope to see you soon! We stop accepting same-day reservations at 4 p.m. We do have limited WiFi at the store. The nearest cell phone service is about 15 miles away in BBNP. If technology is your top concern, this likely isn't the place for you. We DO NOT offer rock hounding or any kind of equestrian services on the property. We do not accept reservations via phone call. All reservations are made thru the website. If you are looking to charge an electric car, simply book the kind of site you require and leave it in the "special request" box that you are charging an electric car. We are an R.V. Park, not a car charging station so the fee is the same. May~June~July~August are off season months. Most of our tent camping sites will be closed. Store hours and amenities availability will be subject to change. We do not recommend visiting in the summer months due to extreme heat. The store will be closed in the mornings for the month of May. Are you interested in visiting Hallie Stillwell's Hall of Fame? Stop by the store during business hours and request the key. Are you interested in working here? The sites are OK but overall you are being brought back to the past. The campground have also a museum to the memory of Ms. Stilwell who had a very interesting life and it is worth the visit.

We ended going to Big Bend during Spring Break of 2016 and did not realize how busy the park would be. We stayed at Stillwell the first night due to no available sites inside of Big Bend. Stillwell is an amazing experience. They have a store and if you stop in they will explain to you and show you the way to the "sites". You pretty much drive into the desert and pick a flat spot to pitch your tent, which was AWESOME! Great experience! We were pretty far from anyone else but it was still a little noisy due to it being Spring Break and the amount of people present. Stillwell has showers included with the price of a site. Bathroom/showers were clean! I believe they also have WIFI available at the Stillwell store as well. It is a 15-20 min drive to Big Bend from Stillwell.

We stayed here overnight in an electric/water site in early March 2018 while waiting for our reservation to start in Big Bend National Park. This RV park is @ 15-20 minutes from the entrance to Big Bend. The staff was very friendly and the grounds were well maintained. Don't expect a resort style park here, this area is very rugged and rustic and the park fits right in. There is a small store with wifi, it appeared to sell gasoline(we didn't inquire), a Hallie Stillwell Hall of Fame Museum, laundry and showers. The park itself is a big sandy lot with hookups, but the surrounding views are amazing. If you have the time take a ride to the end of the road to La Linda, it's a nice, scenic ride with an overlook of Mexico and an old Mission Church at the end.

Stillwell's is an interesting place, and as the title of this review indicates, it is the only place to stay outside the east entrance to Big Bend Nat'l Park. It has easy access, and all options for hookups are avail (full by the office, partial and dry in the area across the street known as The Strip which is a wide open level scrub dirt field. Most sites are pull-thrus. They have picnic tables, but when we visited, they were all stacked up as if for storage. I believe we could have brought one over to our site if we had wanted to. Some of the sites on that side had fire rings, and at the far end of the lot were several horse pens available (we saw a group with many horses stay for a few nights during our visit.)
There are restrooms, showers, and a laundry room in buildings near the office/store, all of which are operational but very run-down and a wee bit gross. The showers had plenty of hot water. The washers and dryers, while located in what reminded me of someone's ramshackle basement, worked well. It was 1.25-1.50 to wash/dry, and I didn't need more than one dry cycle for a full load. **twice during our 10-day stay, the park's well pump went out, and we were without water for a one full and one partial day
The park has free wifi which works the best the closer you are to the store but was still usable for us from across the road. We got no Verizon signal at all (good reception in the National Park, however.) There was no OTA TV or radio reception.
The store/office had basic items, ice cream, and drinks for sale. They sell propane and gas. We did not visit the small Hallie Stillwell museum. There were never more than 10 campers there at any one time, all were well spread out, and it was very quiet both day and night.
Stillwell's, despite its drawbacks, can't be beat especially for the price and its proximity to Big Bend.

Typical campground for the area. Empty field, but gorgeous views in the distance. Yes WiFi, but it didn’t work while we were there. It is perfect if you’re heading to Big Bend!

We stayed here on our way into big bend due to the time, the park was already closed. I believe they have hook ups but we literally stayed in a big gravel field across from the store. For that I think $20 is a little steep. But again, it’s the only option east of the park.

When we got to Big Bend all camping areas taken so we went to Stillwell which they had several spots flat land gravel spots. We just stayed there and would drive to the areas we wanted to go. Did get WiFi but it was spotty it was quite not to active no cell service. Had water/ electric. There was a dump station near exit. Dog friendly. Trash barrels posted around camping area.

I was a bit worried staying outside the park with all the driving it would entail but this park is only 8 miles from the North East entrance and 30 minutes from Panther Junction or 20 minutes from the Fossil Exhibit.
Throw in full hook ups for $30/night and the friendly staff and you have a great place to stay.
WiFi was good until the 30+ college kids jumped on it from 6-midnight. If you’re not there during Spring Break then it shouldn’t be an issue.

What a lovely campground! It’s quite, the staff are friendly, and the store is clean. They have ice, beer, and other food and supplies in the store. They do accept credit. The campground is level. We’re here in December which is supposedly the busy season, but even now staying a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights it hasn’t been busy. And THE STARS ARE EPIC out here!! 🤩 They have WiFi that reaches out to most of the dry camping and all of the hookup sites.

This is a nice quite spot and near the park entrance. It will take you 35 minutes to jet to the junction point and then another 20 minutes to the trails. This is fine for an overnight and if you dont care about the dirt etc then it will do fine for a spot to visit the park. The wifi is terrible and is near the store that they have.
Unfortunantly this RV spot is run down and the spots are so close together. 30 bucks is expensive for dirt and hookups.
I would have rather stayed in the park but you could not find a spot anywhere.
