“bring the spinach!”
This is a bronze statue of everyone’s favorite sailor man located in Popeye Park surrounded by fountains. The annual Spinach Festival held third weekend in April celebrates Alma’s heritage as Spinach Capital of the World.
If you want a good picture with it, go in the middle of the day so that the light is good. We went early evening and the lighting was not good for photos.
Beautiful and green!! Perfect for family pictures and the wall mural was near as well! Little has mart across the street was clean and tidy- clean restrooms!
Really pretty park! It was a nice break from the trip. The Popeye statue was cool too. :p
Popeye staute is awesome. nice little break up from the drive.
A nice little fountain with a statue of Popeye in the middle. Would not drive too far out of the way but worth seeing if close by. My kids enjoyed it.
Simple little fountain with Popeye in the middle, and a tiny park, but it's nice stop on the road!
Worth the stop to see it. We were in our RV and parking g was tricky. Navigation was mostly perfect. Just a block down from the fountain and garden is an old train and fire truck that is worth a picture also.
Cute photo op. Further down the road was also the chamber of commerce located in an old caboose. The town is run down however looks like they have a lot of projects in the works to restore things. Popeyes was well maintained and a great time to walk around.
This was super cute to see. Couldn't stay long though because it was cloudy and rainy.
Great photo opportunity while stretching your legs! The Allen canning plant is nearby and was told the do tours of the plant. I was also told that spring time they have a spinach festival.
