Up to 15,000 petroglyphs or prehistoric rock art images have been found on the West Mesa volcanic escarpment, located along a 17-mile canyon outside of Albuquerque.
If you like petroglyphs this is place is great. But don't be afraid of heights, because the best ones are up high and you have to climb the side of the canyon to see them. You have to stop by the visitor center to get directions to the drawings then drive to where they are. There's also a place for a picnic. I liked it a lot.
