The pictures that someone put on this review are very good and show exactly what Horney's Rest Stop looks like and has to offer. If a KOA is your idea off a perfect camping spot, do not stop at Horney's. If you need 5 bars on your cell service or even 1 bar, don't stop at Horney's. If camping out in the boonies appeals to you, Horney's could be your kind of place.
We thoroughly enjoyed our night at Horney's. We had the place to ourselves and except for an occasional vehicle going by on 375, it was totally quiet. We backed in between some bushes and felt like we were the only people for 50 miles and probably were.
The road in is a little rough in one spot so I only gave Access 3 stars. If you are traveling 375 camping spots are next to nonexistent so Location gets 5 stars. There was not one bit of trash on the ground so 5 stars for Cleanliness and if you stop there, please don't litter. What is Site Quality? Clean, wildflowers, solitude, plenty of trees to pee on; definitely 5 stars for Site Quality whatever Site Quality is. Occasionally we would hear a vehicle going by on 375 so only 4 stars for Noise.

After a long lonely but beautiful drive we are always happy to see Horney's. Someone painted out the name that was on the rock to the entrance, but you can find it from the blm marker.
Nice quiet location just off the highway but tucked away. No facilities, just kept nice and clean as long as everyone picks up after themselves.
Not a fancy RV park, no hookups, but easy for our truck camper to get into.
We stop each time we are headed this direction. Have seen some low flying aircraft which was pretty cool.

No Verizon service. Very unlevel sites. There is a 55 gal trash can. Happy!
But maybe not a good spot for kids, or dogs as used condoms where scattered. 2 picnic tables where there, sadly destroyed.

Quiet free desert camping off the Extraterrestrial Highway. The dirt road up to the rest stop was a little rocky but our 35 ft Motorhome had no problem getting there. We found a level spot to park near the entrance, but most of the area is sloped. There’s one trash can and a couple old picnic tables. But no other amenities. The short pinyon pines provided a little shade in the morning and evening. No AT&T cell service. There’s enough room for 4-5 groups to camp. There were 2 other groups there when we stayed, but everyone was pretty spread out. We couldn’t see or hear the other campers from our spot.

Beautiful little secluded place in the hills. Site contains multiple dirt road loops each with some kind of fire ring, and a central trash can near what used to be a picnic table.
ACCESS:
a little rocky coming in, but a sedan could handle it.
CLEANLINESS:
Pretty clean. A few gun shells here and there, but no trash/broken bottles/former targets.
HIKING:
Not much. Beyond the camp grounds is a narrow dirt path to a great view of the hills. A truck or Jeep could make it up there, but we just walked (maybe 3/4mi). Not much else for trails. Terrain is easy enough for you to walk wherever.
NOISE:
Far enough off the highway where you won't hear much. Not many cars seem to come down the road anyway.
WILDLIFE:
Part of the highway goes through open pasture, so do watch for cows on your way in, but no cows at the campsite. Hardly any bugs. A few gnats around sunset, but that was it.
CELL SERVICE:
Fewer bars than a dry county in Utah. None.

Great little spot, close to the highway but quiet. Easy road in and several spots to pick from. We were all by ourselves on a Friday night in early June.

No cell signal here, and if you keep going west there’s no signal for about 3 hours. Had a nice big spot in the beginning and a few others, if you can live without signal for the night would be a good one night stay.

Excellent dispersed campsite, even picnic tables. Nice area for taking a hike. Some campers need to be more respectful to the environment but area was very clean except for a couple fire pits. Great star gazing.
Highway noise minimal. Road was slightly rocky at entry road and some sandy spots.
