“34.3 miles of bike trails”
The Virginia Creeper Trail is a 34.3-mile rail-to-recreation trail starting in Abingdon, Va., traveling through Damascus, Va. and ending just past Whitetop Station at the Virginia-North Carolina border. The Creeper Trail as it exists today was completed in 1984 and is maintained by public-private partnerships between the U.S. Forest Service, towns of Abingdon and Damascus, and "Creeper Keeper" trail volunteers. Trail property is on public lands but immediately adjacent to private holdings. Please respect private property and do not trespass.
The rail trail is a lovely walk through pastures and old trees with plenty of cows and horses on either side. It was the perfect afternoon activity for us on our road trip. Definitely recommend!
