The Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad Association was formed in 1993 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, dedicated to restoring and operating historic railroad equipment and educating the public on the history of railroads. The railroad is operated by volunteers which includes our engineers, conductors, brakemen, car attendants that narrate every trip, and depot workers. Volunteers also take care of our mechanical and track maintenance. Full runs are from Abilene to Enterprise and return and take about 1.5 hours for the round trip.
Address in app is wrong ! . Actuall address : 200 SE 5th St, Abilene, KS 67410. Place has a nice little restaurant near the train. So overall not bad of a stop on long journey.
This was a pretty cute stop but unfortunately they were not up and running. Construction was going on but the kids did get to run around and see the little town. I’m sure it’s fun once it’s open but from the prices online maybe not so much for the costs to go in during its season. The town itself was adorable and lots of little town shopping if you have time to check it out.
WOW!!! For two kids that really wanted to ride a train; this is a great first experience for young ones.
