Head to Charleston for the holiday season and you’ll be rewarded with moderate temperatures and fewer tourists. The campground at the 643-acre James Island County Park is an ideal home base.
For mild winter weather, look no further than Jekyll Island, located halfway between Jacksonville, Florida, and Savannah, Georgia. Between beaches, bike paths, and salt marshes for kayaking, you’ll have no shortage of outdoor activities.
This enormous campsite is part of the Disney Resorts, meaning you get “on property” perks like extra park hours, early access to FastPass booking, and complimentary transportation.
The Hot Springs National Park KOA gives you easy access to historic Bathhouse Row and the national park with its convenient location just minutes from downtown.
Both the Loveland Ski Area and Eldora Mountain are under an hour’s drive away, while downtown Denver is just 13 miles east and Boulder is 20 miles north.
You’ll find the Alamogordo / White Sands KOA just 20 miles from the U.S.’s newest national park, White Sands.
This snowbird-friendly campground is also close to archeological sites and national monuments, like the Painted Rock Petroglyph Site, the Sonoran Desert National Monument, and the Gillespie Dam Bridge.
Snowbirds head to Catalina Spa RV Resort—located a short drive away from Palm Springs—for a relaxing experience complete with mineral hot springs, swimming pools, and a fitness center.
At Leavenworth RV Campground, you can go sledding, tubing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing right from camp. The campground is located across from more than 200 miles of groomed trails. It’s also less than 30 miles from Stevens Pass Ski Resort.
