Camels and Cable Beach go together like wine and cheese. Or beer and chips. People flock to Cable Beach and set up their deck chairs with wine and cheese and beer and crisps to watch the camels stroll by at sunset. It’s that spectacular.
But it’s more fun being on the camel.
There are three camel operators offering what seems to be similar options on these gentle beasts and not every ride is at sunset but that’s the most photographed. If you talk to locals they’ll tell you about the ‘camel wars’ that raged a few years ago over who had rights to which camel beach route but that’s settled down now. The camels don’t seem to care and plod along in single file.
Aside from being the camel riding place of Western Australia, Cable Beach is also a nudist beach so don’t miss the sunset getting distracted by the locals showing their wares.
