We stayed at the RV part of the resort - it was a really nice campground - loved the view of the lake - easy walking distance and close to hiking trails.
This is a must see - it's a short hike but so beautiful. It's very popular however, so try to think of a good time that will be less busy... your guess is as good as mine! I would suggest bringing some wine or coffee and seeing the sun rise/set..
This was one of my favorite things. I had so much fun taking pictures and just seeing how the light played on the rocks. It's expensive - but worth it (and I'm cheap - so I don't say that about anything endless it's really good!) Book ahead of time though right from location - others sell tickets from the town - but then you pay an up-charge and have to be shuttled.
This place is AMAZING - we stayed at Mustang Valley campground for $25 cash per night. no hook ups, it was not busy at all and the host had great suggestions for things to do. Horses run free in the pastures near by, I got to take some amazing pictures of a mare and her colt. We went on a horseback ride (our host recommended) and it was probably the #1 experience on the whole trip... Love this place. We also got Fry Bread from a hotel place nearby - it's a dry area - so if you want to have a beer bring it from somewhere else. We drove around the park (there is a dirt road loop) took a ton of pictures, then also went for a run around the rocks. Highly recommend checking this out.
We pretty much just drove past this - someone told us about it when we were in Texas - it was just as it sounds - looked like a Mexican hat...
This place was a little farther away from arches and canyonland than I wanted - but everything else was booked up. It was a nice place to stay - they had pull through sites, fairly large - full hook ups... We had a fire a couple nights. One cool thing about it is that it's very close to a road that has a ghost town on it - ask the owner about it and he will give you directions. We also drove up a hill and had wine and watched the sun set. It was a nice place to stay.
This is another must see. We got up super early and headed to see mesa arch for the sunrise. It was beautiful - but we had to compete for the best realestate to take "the picture" it ended up not being a prefect day for "the picture" (i'm talking about the one everyone takes with the sun coming through the arch) but it was still really beautiful and we enjoyed it. We hiked around the rest of the day and saw the landscape arch and lots of other beautiful arches. Love this place - I'll be back!
We did not get to explore this as much as I wanted - its SO HUGE. but we did drive around, go on several shorter hikes and enjoy the time we had. I want to come back to ride dirt bikes here - and of course hike more.
Utah Highway 24, Torrey, Utah, United States
I'm not sure why this is here... I think it may be the address for the RV park we stayed at. It was on the outskirts of town and it was a nice place to stay - the owner was friendly... I don't remember what it was called though - we only stayed one night.
This place is cool and it's free! We had a parks pass anyway but still... I went for a run here and really enjoyed the colorful rocks. The campground I wanted to stay at was not available so we stayed on the outskirts of town.
So this - was... a concrete parking lot behind a bunch of hotels...they had lots of spaces but only one other RV showed up. It had full hook ups though - so it served our purpose for the night - would not stay more than one night though...
We took the truck here - it was neat how the salt looked like water... it was so white. Judah got the truck up to 100 MPH I think - It's an interesting place. worth a stop, but does not take long.
This place was SO beautiful. We arrived in the morning, and rainbows were dancing over the falls the whole time. It was stunning. Their is a hiking trail also and you can hike to the place where Evil Canevil (SP?) tried to jump his stunt bike over the valley... A few nice places to hike in the surrounding area - I went for a run - and we found a neat bridge that base jumpers frequent.
This was a nice place to stay - they know how to pack people in - but it was not terrible... good location, nice owners, nice game room...
We stayed here as a way point to break up the drive. It was a nice campground - I got up in the morning and went for a run at a fun trail right down the street - then went back to the trailer cleaned up and we were off again.
This place was nice - but expensive! They had a lodge and a game room.. lots of sites, but they did a good job with the layout so that it didn't feel crowded.
While in Florence we went to the town, went to the beach, had a fire on the beach (best fire EVER because the smoke always stayed going the same direction) and went for a couple runs on some local trails. We enjoyed our time in the area.
as we traveled along HW 101 we stopped at a few places such as Cannon beach to see the sea lions, and the pot holes (I think that was actually when we were in Florance area) those are awesome and you can find beautiful tide pools with sea life... We stayed one night at Fort Stevens State park - I went for a run to see the ruins of the boat, then another run in the morning and then we left... It was a nice place to stay.
I learned from this part of the trip that one should always check for road closures at state parks because during the spring roads can be closed since parks have multiple entrances. The campground was really nice - one of our favorites - we had a huge site and it was right along a beautiful creak - we worked around the road closures by Judah dropping me off as far as he could drive, then me running to get to the trail head after that.
While staying at Golden Eagle Campground - the night before I started my new job - we had a major hail storm that dented up about everything. It was scary - it just kept coming - the skylight above our bed in the trailer broke too... AND our new house to be got hit... It all ended up working out, but even the last bit of the trip was an adventure...
