Arrive around 11:30 a.m./leave around 12:30 p.m. Stan's has been open since 1955! No credit or debit cards accepted. Closes mid-September so we will need to check before stopping to make sure they are still open. Typical drive in food, cooked well for frozen food. Great shakes.

The site of Vegors cemetery has existed as a burial ground for longer than any official records are held for. The site was used as an Indian burial ground for 4 different tribes.

In the early 1800's, settlers moved the graves of the Indians into four different burial mounds to make room for their own dead. Stones are in place on the site to identify were the mounds are. The site remains as a cemetery to this day.

The cemetery is said to be haunted by the spirits of restless Native Americans and Mrs. Henry Lott, the wife of a man who was known to cheat the Native Americans and steal their horses. She was killed while trying to escape from angry Native Americans seeking revenge, although her husband survived.

Arrive at 5:30 p.m. The vineyard is open until 7:00 p.m. and serves House-Made Smoked Santa Maria Brats and Fries, Bistro Plates, Appetizers, Cheese and Meat Slates, and Salads

Tentatively arrive around 11:00 a.m. We will need to check to see if it is open, they are currently renovating. Either way, Elaine & I will need to stop for a pic!

Arrive around 12:00 p.m./leave around 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery. I am looking for a specific headstone in this cemetery BUT Earling is famous for a 1928 exorcism that lasted more than 3 weeks. A local Franciscan convent was the setting for the ceremony; the target was the demons inhabiting Emma Schmidt. It is said that Emma Schmidt had been possessed most her life. Born in 1882, Schmidt's Aunt Mina was reputedly a witch "who had placed a spell on some herbs which she placed among the girl's food." A Capuchin priest, Father Theophilus Riesigner, performed the rites of exorcism on her the first time in 1912, but she became possessed again "due to the curses hurled against her by her wicked father." The Earling exorcism was performed in three stages between Aug. 18 and Dec. 22, 1928.

During the 1928 exorcism, as Roman Catholic Capuchin Theophilus Riesinger worked, Emma is said to have flown across the room and clung to the wall above the door. After 23 days, the demons in Schmidt's body gave up after Father Riesinger commanded, "Depart, ye fiends of hell! Begone, Satan." The demons left Emma’s body and it is said she lived a normal life. Afterward, locals reported strange sounds and unpleasant odors coming from the convent.

Perhaps we can stop by the church as well while we are in town, it looks beautiful!

Arrive at 3:00 pm./leave around 3:30 p.m. at St Boniface Catholic Cemetery. It's a small cemetery. I am looking for one particular person but there are reports of unearthly figures walking over the grounds and disembodied voices. Fingers crossed! :)
